How do new ride openings affect crowds?

I have to go to Epcot on 12/10, no way around it, and that is the day Nemo and Friends ride is set to open at the Living Seas pavilion. My plan is to avoid the Living Seas pavilion like the plague that day and tour the other attractions at Epcot, hoping they will be less crowded and then go to Epcot on another morning to check out the Living Seas and ride the new ride. For anyone who has been to a park when a new ride opens, how bad is it? Is the whole park mobbed or just the one attraction?

The Nemo ride opens on 12/10. There will most likely be soft openings beforehand.

Really? I thought it was opening the first week of November with soft openings end of October.
