Hey guys! As the title suggests, was wondering how lockers work in the parks?? Never used lockers in a theme park before.. are these manned?? Do I need the correct change i.e coin activated or do we need to go to a desk and pay?? Also how much is locker rental.. I heard it was something like $7 but not sure if that's up-to-date info?? Also, which set of lockers would people recommend we use for a full day at MK?? TIA!! :)

They are situated just inside the entrance of the parks. You don't use change. You pay for the locker for the day plus a $5 refundable deposit and you are given a key, but they are not manned. You just put your things in, lock up and go. Keep in mind what you are using it for and where it is relative to where you may be when you need to retrieve things later in the day. Putting lunch in the locker at Epcot for example and ending up on the other side of the World Showcase by late morning/noon will prove a pain in the butt to trek all the way back to the locker and it takes time too.

The standard size lockers at MK last Fall were still $7 plus $ 5 refundable. If you park hop you can take your receipt and you don't pay again within that calendar day if you use a locker of the same category at another park.

What do you mean which set of lockers for MK?

As Lee says, at WDW you pay to rent a locker for the day. You get a key and that is yours for the day. I think the cost includes a refundable deposit.

As far as 'which set of lockers to use for MK', there is only one set. They are inside the main gates, underneath the train station.

At the Universal parks, you have two types of lockers - those you can rent for the full day (like at WDW), which are located at the front of the park, and those you use for rides. Where a ride does not allow bags on, the lockers are free for the period of time you ride (the free period is based on the current wait time for the ride plus a bit of leeway). For those, you use a locker station, the instructions are pretty straight-forward. For water rides at Universal parks, if you choose to rent a locker, you will have to pay. You will need $$ notes or coins for these.

Sorry, I figured they likely to have more than one set of lockers. So if they not manned, how do you pay for them?? Apologies if I'm sounding dumb right now but there's SO much to remember! :confused

When you enter each park, you will see a sign for strollers and locker rentals. There is a desk there where you can rent the locker. If you are keeping anything larger than a small rucksack in it, you will need a large locker.

As an aside, have you looked at any park maps? The locker rentals are marked on the maps, it might be an idea to have a look before you go just to get an idea of whereabouts approximately they are.

This site has a good set of maps, which can be found here

Try not to panic, you can't remember everything. I know you want to be prepared but there IS such a thing as information overload ;)

Just go and have a great time.
