How do I use my Visa Rewards Dollars?

I'm sure this has been covered a million times, but I don't want any terrible surprises when we're there! We have around $150 in Rewards dollars on a card, and then another $100 card we got for opening the Visa account. It's my birthday our first day, so we'll also have the $79 Fun Card. And we have free DDP. All of this to say...how do I use them?

I was planning on using up the Fun Card on souvenirs since it has more restrictions. I know we want to make 2 lightsabers at DHS, and get 2 sets of ears, so that will be a big chunk. But on the other stuff (especially snacks from vendors and automatic 18% gratuity at our TS meals), do I hand them the Rewards card? Or can I just charge it back to the room (even the tips?) and then pay off the room balance with the Rewards card?

Also, we are doing T-Rex OOP one night. I know they won't accept the Rewards card, but I thought I read that I can charge it to the room, and then pay that with the Rewards card. Is this correct?

Basically if someone could walk me through this step by step, I'd really appreciate it. I don't want to end up paying tons of cash or using a real CC when we will have over $300 in Disney-specific money! Thanks!

Used mine last week for snacks and souvenirs, mainly inside the parks, then used the last of it at World of Disney. I didn't put anything on my room key except tips for DDP, and then didn't even think to try paying it with the Rewards card (too easy to just leave it on the room and not have to do anything for checkout!)

Oh, the checkout person at World of Disney said they give an additional discount off your purchase if you are using the actual VISA card, but not if you are using the Rewards gift card.

Thanks for the reply! I guess I need to know if you can indeed pay your room charges with the Rewards card. I would swear I read that somewhere. And then the follow-up to that is, can you put your bill at T-Rex on your KTTW, in which case you'd be able to pay for that with the Rewards card.

I was there last week and paid for EVERYTHING with our points. It was great. And we still had some leftover when we got home. I couldn't believe it. So we did a bit of school shopping at the Disney Store:goodvibes

You CAN pay at T-Rex with your KTTW, but it's not on the DDP! I was surprised - didn't realize that was an option til our check came. BTW, the food there was great!

We used our rewards card in Dec for most everything, but there are a few places on property that aren't owned/operated by Disney that won't take them. Off the top of my head I'm thinking of the Joffey (sp?) coffee carts, who also don't take Disney gift cards or the DDP. Which is a shame because they're one of the few places to get REAL, good coffee at WDW.

Thanks! I'm hoping our points, etc. will cover just about everything too. Our biggest expense will be tips at TS meals, so I definitely am trying to figure out a way to pay with points, GC, whatever, on that!

I'm glad to hear the food was good. My 4 year old DS is dino-OBSESSED, so we are totally willing to pay OOP there, even with free dining everywhere else. So I knew it wasn't on the DDP. I just wanted to make sure you can pay there with your KTTW, then pay your KTTW with Rewards dollars!:goodvibes

None of us are coffee drinkers, so that part will be just fine!;) I wonder where else doesn't take it, but I guess I'll find out in 11 days!:yay::banana:

Yes, you can use your rewards card for room charges. Just use your KTTW and go to guest services at your resort every so often and they can adjust the charges from your room to your rewards card. They just asked us to make sure it was done before the last night, although I have heard from others that it can stil be done.
