How do I use my Southwest reward points?

Sounds like a stupid question, but we're almost ready to book flights and I have a couple questions. Can I use the points for my husband (same last name) and a nephew (different last name)? Also can it all be one reservation, or will it be 3 separate reservations?

For Southwest you can only use credits that are in your own name. For example, your DH's credits can only be used for him. Your nephews credits can only be used by your nephew. As long as you are purchasing a ticket in their name that is fine. Credits aren't transferrable. Hope that helps.

Aren't credits and reward points two different things? I thought credits were like the "refund" to your account when you couldn't use a flight you had booked. I thought reward points could be used to buy tickets for anyone. When I price tickets using my reward points on the website, it allows me to do 4 tickets at the same time.

Am I misunderstanding this?

You can book as many flights as you want for whomever you want with the reward points. The only catch is each will be a seperate reservation#.

Credits are something completely different from reward points.

Yes, as stated above...reward points and credits are two totally different things.

To answer your question, reward points can be booked in anyone's name and IF you do have to cancel, the points are returned immediately to your account, so you then could rebook for anyone else (using those same pts.) if you needed.
