You could also overreact to his overreaction by going on and on about it. Finally, ask if he needs to go to the emergency room!
LOL! That's how I cured my nine year old grandson of overreacting! I sat him down and sympathized, then said if he were feeling that bad, maybe we should go to the hospital? He got better fast.
Later I took some time to explain that when he is overly dramatic every time he gets hurt, I'll never know when he's REALLY hurt. He's no longer overly dramatic but will ask for a bag of frozen peas for little bumps and bruises--only because he thinks the bag of peas sitting on his knee is funny.
Maybe the OP needs to explain to her DH that he has to stop overreacting. How will she know if he's really having a medical problem if he exaggerates every time he's hurt? That might get through to him.
