how do I take a song

There are programs you can find on-line to do this. Usually they have a free trial.

Type in music editing programs free on Google & you should come up with a few.

It's extremely easy to do. You can cut & fade music very easily.

I thought I had something on this computer - but I don't recognize anything

I've edited part of video once & added music but I can't even figure out what software I did that with (was hoping it could be used to do Cd's as well)

seems like the software I used a a flame as its logo....back to searching....

OP, Depending on what format your song is saved as on your computer, you might be able to do this with Windows Movie Maker.

Just import your audio file over there and put it on the clipboard. There, you can listen to your song and edit.

If you have any questions I will try to help. If I can figure it out, anyone can!

I downloaded audacity & tried to pull in the song from my playlist in itunes but it said it didn't recognize the kind of file
