How do I remove Black Sharpie from a bathroom counter?

have you tried hairspray? It works on ink marks, havent tried it on sharpie but its worth a try? :confused3

I've had Sharpie markers on a lot of things: counters, clothing, tables, outside of the car etc.) and hairspray has taken it off of everything without harming the finish.

Mr Clean spray-love it! Works on so many things, including sharpie on the dry erase board.

I go with the hairspray also. It took sharpie off a linen jacket of mine years ago. Tell you what. I have a mark on a table right now. It is old and I never bothered to get it off, let me try and see what happens. Be right back

Yep, that mark has been there for about 6 months. It took some scrubbing, but some aerosol hairspray and it came off and did not hurt the wood.

Ditto on the magic eraser. If the ME doesn't work, cover the area with Mr. Clean & let soak. This has worked for me in the past. Good Luck!

The more acetate the hair spray has the better it will work, brands like Aqua Net.

I'm really surprised that rubbing alcohol didn't work. It's gotten several kinds of ink off of things for me.

I use Aqua Net hairspray to take sharpie out of lots of charts and items in my classroom.

Toothpaste. I've used it to get markers and pen markers off of the desks in my classroom, and markers on my walls and countertops.

Thanks everyone for the tips!!!! I used the magic eraser and it worked!!! I always use hairspray for pen and it gets it out every time, and goo gone usually works on everything, but it didn't work on this surface. Thanks for all your tips, you guys are the best!
