My DD, got black sharpie on my bathroom counter top, I've tried alcohol and goo gone, and they are not working, any ideas?

I used a Dry Erase marker to remove Sharpie ink from plastic once. I found the information on line. All you do is color over the area that has the Sharpie on it with the Dry Erase marker and then wipe off with a dry cloth. Worked like magic! I was actually surprised. I'm not sure it will work now that you've tried other products, but it won't hurt to try it.:confused3

What is your counter made of? I would make a paste out of water and Comet and let it soak till it dries out. Good luck!

I was going to suggest the same thing. It works on white boards in a classroom.

Cover the offending Sharpie marker completely with dry-erase marker. The two will chemically adhere, and when you wipe away the dry-erase marker, the Sharpie will disapear as well.

I don't know that it'll work on a countertop, but I've done it numerous times on my white board.

have you tried hairspray? It works on ink marks, havent tried it on sharpie but its worth a try? :confused3

Thank you SO much for this hint! I had Sharpie on my dry erase board and I could not for the life of me get it off. It easily came off once I went over it with the dry erase pen. :thumbsup2

Purell, I just had to do that a few weeks ago. Purell cleans pretty much everything including coffee stains on clothes. My dh is the King of coffee stain cleaning at work :rotfl2:

It really depends what your counters are made of. Magic Eraser can take the finish right off of certain surfaces...so make sure you can safely use it on there.

toothpaste! My DS got sharpie on a table once and I read this online and it worked. May remove the finish though.

I was going to suggest the same thing. Worked like a charm! Was out for a conference one day and came back to discover that my sub had used a sharpie from my drawer (um...the dry erase markers are on in a magnetic basket attached to the white board :confused3). Used the dry erase marker trick and it all came off, not to mention I had a class full of mesmerized kids.

Thanks so much for all the hints! I'm a little leary to try the dry erase marker, I wouldn't want to put anything else on the counter that may not come off. I will try the magic eraser and the toothpaste tonight.
