Silly question I guess, but how EXACTLY do I quote just a sentence or two of somebody else's post???

Well--
No.
So I have to type out the sentence(s) I want?
When I hit the "quote" icon the persons ENTIRE post appears---

When you hit quote the entire thing appears like you said. Just delete the unnecessary parts of it. But do not alter the person's post or words as that can result in an infraction.

If there are several "snips" you want then you can copy/ paste the parts you want and use the quote button (looks like a speech bubble above the posting box) to put it in quotes. Like this:

Well--
No.

This first one has your name attached to the quote. I then cut the rest of your post and pasted it below.

So I have to type out the sentence(s) I want?
Copy/paste. If you want the name attached too then copy/paste that first quote where it says
and be sure to use the ending quote of (/quote) (using brackets instead of parenthesis ) so it looks like this:

When I hit the "quote" icon the persons ENTIRE post appears--
snip the post by either deleting or cut/paste

I do a few different things when I quote someone.

1) I copy the sentences and then click the
quote.gif
, and paste in the sentence so I get this:

I copy the sentences

2) Another thing you can do is hit the
quote.gif
and delete the sentences you don't want, so you get something like this:

3) The third way to do it, especially when you want to quote various posters is to click on this icon ->
multiquote_off.gif
on each post you want to quote, so the icons look like
multiquote_on.gif
and then you can respond accordingly when you click on the post reply button

You get something like this:

Silly question I guess?
Not a silly question

See above ;)

Thank you, but it's rather complicated for such as I..I need someone sitting at my computer showing me how it's done..it's the only way I learn how to do much of anything on the computer.

I had thought you could just highlight what you wanted to quote and press "quote".

I guess not:)

Ah well- I'll just keep on doing as before--never quoting!!!
