I'm back!
So the long story is.... my ripped video ended up being about 430 MB, and I could never get it to upload to
Viddler - the browser would freeze up. I was finally able to upload a portion of it by dividing the video into smaller chunks.
Blip.tv had no trouble accepting the entire video, and it was ready very quickly.
I played the videos simultaneously on Blip.tv and Viddler, and the resolution was better on Blip.tv. And since Blip had the whole video in one piece, I went with them. However, you can't make your video private on Blip the way you can on Viddler, which means anybody who can figure out how to find it can watch it. If this is an issue for you, you either have to upgrade to a paid Blip account (the basic one is free) or use another free video-sharing service.
Blip encodes your video as Flash. You can choose to show their Flash version or your original version. The resolution of the Flash version isn't the greatest, but my original movie took more than 30 minutes to load and start playing, so I left it as the Flash version.
When people watch your video, tell them to pre-load it by pausing after a few seconds and waiting for the gray bar to extend all the way to the book icon. It takes my video about 10 or 15 minutes minutes to pre-load, but that way it won't hang up in the middle (and you can fast-forward through the boring parts)!
