in 3 weeks? :rotfl2:

He's 38 inches. You know what that means.

Bovine Growth?
Steroids?
Energy drinks?
A 10 gallon hat?
PeeWee Herman lifts in his shoes?

No point really, just bemoaning the fact that my son is... short.

Actually - there is a point... we are planning on parent swapping for certain rides - just because the boy is short doesn't mean the girl should miss out on some of the best rides, right?

So... how do I keep the sibling jealousy to a minimum? I know we can distract him... but I'm thinking once he gets a look at Splash Mountain he is not going to be a happy camper no matter what.

How do you deal?

TIA!

I find the best way is to buy a very cute/expensive outfit (or even better, a carseat!) about 3-4 weeks before you want optimum growth to be acheived.

Or you could just hang him by his ankles outside the window for a few days. Or spike his hair.

Rarely has boy1 had his height actually checked. He's above the minimum, but not so far above that it's obvious.

LOL!!! I have been hoping and praying for 1 1/4 in. in about 8 days! He's so close!!! He may only be an in away! How old is your little boy?

Not much you can do to make him grow. My DD is small for her age ( 5) and the Disney Cms were very strict about it.So Dh and I would do a child swap .DD was very upset but she got over it very quickly

Sneakers with a thick heel? I think my DS was about 1/4 inch too short (in stocking feet) before we first went to WDW, but when we put his shoes on, he was tall enough to do the rides. I don't remember anyone checking his height, but maybe they only do that if the kid is obviously too short and forego it if they are borderline. Remember that it is for his safety. I know he'll probably be pretty disappointed, but maybe you could get him a special game or toy that he could play with while he's waiting for you and your spouse to ride. While my DS was allowed to ride, my DD was not, so usually during that time, she and I would go get an ice cream and I'd let her out of the stroller to run around a bit. By the time DH and DS got off the ride, she'd be rested, cooled off, and ready to go do something else.

RMulieri: I was kidding, I know there's nothing I can do. It was mostly a vent in the form of a joke. It's sorta how I roll. ;) But thanks for the weigh in on someone who has experienced it.

thebeesknees: Yup, I know - safety first. I think I'll see how tall he is in his tennis shoes... though he'll probably more than likely be wearing his sandals. I guess I'll try him on something more benign like Spaceship Earth first to see if they let him through. Maybe I won't let him on Splash Mountain anyway - let's hope he freaks out when he sees the drop at the end!

Spaceship earth does not have a height requirement, I took my 6 month old on it last year. Do you mean Mission Space?

Spaceship earth doesn't have a 40 inch height restriction???? Do you mean Mission Space? I think Mission Space is 44 inches

Funny memory...my BIL bought a pair of sandals with a high heel for his 5 year old when she was not tall enough to ride Indiana Jones(in DL). He would slip them on when she was about to go on a ride. Pretty funny to see the transformation right before she got in line:) Maybe you could have him wear the sandals but carry around the sneakers in your stroller.

Must be - my bad. I was reading my unofficial guide... and must have gotten them mixed up in my head.

Makes more sense now! :rolleyes1

Thanks!

Ok, definitely remeasuring him tonight! :yay:

3 Inches is a bit much..
usally you can get 1-1 1/2 by the shoes

sometimes you can get a full inch by the child Standing really tall.

maybe stuffing the shoes to make it a little less ovious then buying lifters..

Good Luck

Hey, dont joke about the shoe idea..it works!
Ok, PLEASE...I DONT want responses to the type of shoes I am about to mention... I already know how some people feel about them. But... we just got our son Healies. And when you wear them..WITHOUT THE WHEELS IN.. they make you quite a bit taller. My friend was the first to mention something about it to me a few years ago.. her kids were riding all sorts of things we were just under the hight requirement for. So this year, for his b-day.... he got some. They hiked him right up there. The funny thing is.. he doesnt ask to put the wheels in. I think the poor lil dude just needed a lil lift.

When we went, DS was 1/2 an inch (barefoot) too short. A half a stinking inch! With normal shoes, he was right on the borderline. I think that some of the measuring devices must be a little off though, b/c on a couple he looked way shorter than that 1/2 inch, and on some, he was tall enough.

He was able to get on Soarin for example, but on Splash Mtn, one CM said he was ok to ride, and a second say no dice. Ditto Test Track- only there, we got all the way through the line, and were about to get on before they re-measured and said no.

For anyone who has kids who are very close to the limit, I recommend having them practice being measured, as they tend to kind of slump, not wanting to bump their heads. Their feet must stay flat on the ground, but obviously you want them to stand up straight and tall.

Right after we got home, he had a growth spurt. LOL

chesterpdt186 & keywestbride: Practice stading tall. Check. (and figures about the growth spurt. Dang kids)

MickeyMouse'sBFF: Hmmmmmm....... I wonder if they make them in size 7?

I am hoping that my 4 year old will finally make it to 40 inches for our trip in September. Luckily he has a little time to grow! No real recommendations, just wanted to sympathize with you!

I'm in the same boat you are, except my 3 year old is currently 33 inches, so no amount of tips is going to help her gain 7 inches in 4 months! I'm thinking about taking her to some of the playgrounds while DH and DS ride some of the rides with height restrictions. We're going to do 2 days at MK, so I would have another chance to ride those rides with DS and not be stuck on playground duty.

We went just after my sons 3rd birthday and didnt get to ride anything "Cool" as he called it. He was 38in in Tennis shoes. I'm hoping that he grows those 2in by Dec. I have a feeling my youngest will make it to 40in b4 he does. He is 18m and already like 34in. I know though that he wont make it (yeah 6in in 6m is a bit much to ask...lol).

Thanks for the commiserating, sympathy, and general "yeah, been there."

Maybe a strongly-worded letter is in order...?

Dear so-and-so Disney person:

I feel you are height discriminating against my child. He has had his heart set, for the past 3+ years of his life to ride every single ride in your park. Sadly, this is not meant to be....
