How do I make a location request for VWL?

We are checking in this coming Saturday for a week in a 1 BDR at VWL. I wanted to make a relatively simple room request of a top-floor non-handicapped unit far from elevators. My reasoning is that my toddler fights bedtime by whining/crying for a bit before going to sleep. I'm trying to minimize the # of people who will be bothered by this (if anyone really will...she goes to bed pretty early!). We figured that on the top floor, nobody will be above us at least. I am not picky about view. Can I fax this request to them or do I have to call them or what? Does anyone know the fax/phone # that I should use? Also, when should I do this? Thank you!

One more thing...I know that some of the top floor rooms at VWL have vaulted ceilings. Are these desireable or undesireable? I don't know if I should add this to my request or if I should request to not have one of these units or what. I wouldn't even bother to make a request except that I'm afraid that the resort will be pretty full by the time we check in, with it being Labor Day weekend and all.

Call MS on Monday and add your request to the reservation. The DVC resorts do not look at requests. Ask again at check in.

Can't help with the vaulted ceiling question - but I'm sure one of the VWL experts will be along soon to help you with that, LOL.

What a considerate DVC'er you are! I hope the little kiddo is so pooped by bedtime that it will be a non-issue!

As far as those vaulted ceilings. We have had them for several visits. We find that they make the villa a little more interesting, but they do cut down on space a tiny bit. The balcony has a solid wall, which I neither prefer nor dislike.

I would never refuse a top floor villa. And we don't request them either. Not sure if that helps or not!

Thanks :) I hope for the same thing, LOL! I run her around ALL day, from activity to activity, and she STILL protests bedtime loudly every night for at least 15 minutes:rolleyes:

I'll be giving MS a call this morning. I didn't know that DVC resorts didn't look at faxes. I only ever faxed a room request to a Disney resort once, and that was years ago. It wasn't a DVC resort, though.

Some people dislike those balcony's, as the wall really cuts down on the view as you are sitting out there. Other people like them - especially those with young kids who feel a bit safer.

I believe that a lot of the top floor at VWL consists of dedicated 2 b/r's. We had a 1 b/r there and were around the corner from the elevators but didn't notice any elevator noise (if that is what you're concerned about). I'm a big believer in bringing a white noise machine for hotel rooms, they have been a god-send at various times for our family. Perhaps your best bet on requests would be "high floor, end of hallway", but keep in mind that will be a bit of a hike at the end of the day.

We LOVE our white noise machine! We use it every night and it always comes to hotels with us. I don't know how we ever lived without it!

I just checked the map there are only 6 one bedroom villas on the 5th floor, and all are near the elevator. Part of the 5th floor is actually the top floor on the wing near the lodge. There are 5 more one bedrooms there. So you at least have to drop away from the elevator part and even then the chances aren't great at getting a top floor 1 bedroom.

Interesting! I really don't want to be near the elevators, so maybe I should make a request to be on any floor at the end of the hallway or something:confused3 I just want to minimize the # of other people that DD could potentially disturb if she cries loudly at bedtime. If the top floor is unlikely, what would be the best way to accomplish my goal of disturbing the fewest people?
