How do I link a cash and DVC ressie?

I went ahead and booked 3 nights in the Contemporary tower 12/30-1/2. I was planning on booking a DD hotel or something for the 29th to save $$--although it turns out the Dolphin is cheaper than most of them at $129 with my teacher discount. DH is thinking we should just book the Contemp. that day to save hassle of moving and since no great discounts are leaping out at us, even on Hotwire.
If I book the Contemp. with cash for 12/29, do I just ask them to link it with my DVC ressie so we don't have to change rooms? Is this easy to do?
Doing lots of things for the first time on this 7th trip!
BTW, when I booked I checked availability--you were all right, absolutely nothing at OKW, VWL, BWV or BCV for those dates!

you will have to call ms and ask if that date is available , can you pay cash and tell ms you are staying on points there, can your ressies be link together so you dont have to move. if the date is available i believe ms tries to do their best linking the ressies together, and only ms can really answer your question, dont wait to long to call

MS can only make point reservations at non-DVC resorts. You will need to make your cash night at CR thru WDTC and ask them to link it for you ... or just ask at the resort when you check in. You can call the resort directly a few days before arrival and make your request to be linked.

thanks, for clearing up who to call, i will keep that in mind, i just remember when i had called to make a ressies and all dvc were booked ms asked if i wanted to book non-dvc resort and i had made a comment that i would not have enough points and ms offered that i could pay cash for the rest of the stay and that she would call the resort direct . it was left as that, i didnt except staying at the non dvc resort, instead i went on the waitlist, and glad i did it all came through for our vacation
