How do I know tickets from Craigslist legitimate?

We are looking for bears/ Dallas ticket at craigslist because they are way cheaper than stubhub. How do I know they are not fake tickets? Any other tips for us. Thanks d

There is no way, no how I would buy ANY tickets on Craigs List. The chances are about 99.9% they're fake.


Spend the extra few bucks and buy them from a reputable site or at the box office itself (you may be able to get a discount)

We usually use stubhub for tickets. However, we have purchased tickets on craigslist with no problem. We always meet at a public place and look at the hard tickets. I never did printable tickets. It is usually people with season tickets who just don't want to pay stubhub fees.

Its always a risk. I have bought many tickets on Craigslist and never been ripped off. Just stick to real tickets and not ones printed off a computer and remember if the deal is too good to be true, it probably it.

"real tickets" means absolutely nothing. Last year, there was a guy selling "real tickets" to some big concert that all the tweens/young teens wanted tickets to. ALL the tickets were fake. The "help me" news segment somehow tracked the guy down and he was STILL selling "real tickets"


There is always a chance of getting a legitimate ticket off Craigs List but I wouldn't take the chance.

I, personally, wouldn't ever buy any tickets off craigslist.

I've sold tickets on Stubhub and Craigslist. Stubhub or eBay will be safer that Craigslist. If the tickets are fraudulent on eBay I think you'd be able to get your money back. Stubhub guarantees that they are legitimate.

you can actually see if he will list them on stub hub for you. Or even EBay, the cost is not really too much. Depends on the price of the tickets too though.

I got MNSSHP ticks from a CL 1 time, and legit, but it made sense when I emailed back and forth.

I think both happen on CL, if you get a even incling it is going south run.

I have sold my football tickets through Craigslist before, but honestly you don't know. There are a lot of honest people out there, but there are dishonest people also.

the cost is approximately 15% of the ticket price for either. I would pass that on to the buyer.

My husband uses Craigslist to sell our Blackhawks tickets that we can't use.
If someone requests it, we will take a picture of the actual ticket (bar code & number partly obscured so it can't be stolen) and lately I've been having him add a piece of paper with the person's name who was asking so they know the picture was taken for them.
Also, if/when we meet in person we show the person our season ticket holder card (its looks like a credit card) with our account number that matches up with the numbers on the tickets we are selling.

We use the official ticket exchanges too, but they take such a large chunk from the buyer and the seller. Selling our tickets this way, my husband has made some great connections and friendships and he has a nice group of repeat customers.

There is no way to know if the tickets are real when you buy on Craigslist or Ebay. You have to decide if it is worth the chance. To me, heck no. I don't trust people enough to possibly throw that sort of money away.

stubhub is a lot safer

I use nfl.com/tickets for Giants tickets. I buy 3 tickets, for the last home game of the year for Christmas presents. (for DH, the 2 DS) I may pay more, but I know they are real.

Just two weeks ago the news here in Cleveland did a story on a couple from Pittsburg who bought tickets on Craigslist for a Cleveland Browns game. The ticket was scanned and they were allowed in. They were sitting in their seats when someone else came up claiming this couple was sitting in their seats. As it turns out the folks who bought the craigslist tickets bought fake ones. And the other folks had bought their tickets from the Browns box office.
Yep the couple from Pittsburg was excorted out of the ballpark. They spent over $300 for the tickets, drove all the way to Cleveland only to be excorted out of the park at the begining of the game.

Not sure why the fake tickets were scannable but they were.

My old boss used to do this alot for last minute concert deals and never had a problem, but I personally would not chance it.
