How do I giftwrap a 12" omelet pan?

I hate buying wedding gifts. So I buy this $80 pan on sale for $40 (which to me is unbelievable for ONE pan), but now I have to wrap it! Going to be a hoighty toighty wedding, so a garbage bag (even with a ribbon) isn't going to do! Any clever ideas?!?

keep it and just give them a card :rotfl:

I was going to do a gift bag, but it really is heavy enough that if the groom gets mad at the bride or vice versa, serious injury could result from one good swing. I don't think I can pad it up enough to not have it break through most bags! (And, no, I can't keep it, because my DH, who actually does do dishes, believes that the steel wool scrubbie is *perfect* for all dishes with any kind of surface...)

Could you gather wrapping paper (or tissue paper if you need something more pliable) around the pan part and tie it at the base of the handle so that it covers most of the handle? That should work decently as long as the handle isn't too long and it doesn't have a lid. They'll be able to tell what it is, but they registered for it, so it's not going to be a big surprise anyway.

There is a chain of stores out here in NE, called The Christmas Tree Shops. They sell all manner of stuff, candles, knick knacks, dishes, glasses, baskets, seasonal decorations, etc etc etc.

They also have a HUGE gift wrap section. I have purchased really pretty hatboxes for oddly shaped gifts. They are generally patterned, so all I do is put a ribbon on it, and put the gift inside. Voila!

Good Luck!

Most dollar stores or party-supply-type stores carry disposable plastic tablecloths in a wide range of colors. Gather it around the pan handle, angle-cut to fit and attach a coordinating ready-made bow (metallic, multi-color curly ribbon, etc.).

If you want to get more elaborate, you could first wrap the pan in contrasting metallic or tissue paper, letting it "peek out" among the plastic covering around the handle. Wire some wedding bells or something to the ribbon.

I work in the cust serv dept of a large dept store and we use a large sweater or coat box to wrap them. If you have a May Co. store in your area go in and ask them for a #37, 46 or 51 box, one of these will definately work for you.

Maybe you could add some "fun kitchen stuff" like some hot pads, or some spices, or a utensel. Then get a clear giftbag from a party store, or a craft store. Just tie it up with some pretty ribbon.

Yes, she'll be able to see the present, but you won't have to worry about it being in a traditional gift bag and either falling out of the bag, or breaking through the bag.

Do you have a box big enough for it?

That is exactly what I was thinking.........pop it in a box, even stuff the box with tissue paper to take up the slack if you have to, then you can gift wrap the box.

Does the store where you purchased the pan offer gift wrapping? If not take it to a store that does. I know that Boscov's will wrap other purchases for a nominal fee (don't forget your receipt).
