.and back....In the most efficient way from POR. We are thinking of taking in the campfire program on our first night at Disney but not if it involves too much trouble...we will not have a car.

any tips? ::MickeyMo

thanks!!!

I would take the bus to Magic Kingdom, then hop the boat over to Fort Wilderness! :flower:

Or, you can take the bus to any of the other parks, then grab the Fort Wilderness bus from there.

The boat is more fun though! :banana:

Check with front desk. There may run a bus direct the FW for the Hoop-de-do Revue.

If it's a nice night I would take the boat as well...I believe they have boats that leave from the transportation center...nothing like a ride across the lake on a beautiful night...either way enjoy your stay....one other suggestion would be to get off the monorail at the Polynesian resort and take the boat over from there...it will give you a chance to enjoy the Poly as well.

You could take the ferry to DTD and hop a bus. What Iwould do is take a cab though. Ft W is a pain in the patootie to get to the Hoop Dee Do if you ask me. Cabbie drops you off right there, no multiple busses.

Even if you take a cab to FW you'll have to hop and internal campground bus to get to the campfire. If you take the boat from MK you'll also have to walk ~300 yards to the bus stop and then hop the internal bus to the campfire. It's about 6 of one and a half dozen of another, but the boat ride is pretty fun. My kids really like it.

Which ever route you decide to take, I'd allow at least an hour to get there. The nice thing is if you don't get there at the beginning of the campfire you can join in at any time.

I think it's a wonderful opening evening thing to do.

Not true. You bypass the internal busses if you tell the cabbie you want to go directly to the HDDR

But if you want to go to the campfire program, don't tell the cab driver you want to go to HDDR. They aren't that close together! But if a cab can get you into FW, you should be able to be dropped off at the campfire.

You'll need to figure out how to get back though.

Ask on the transportation board.

Here is my suggestion as we did this our first trip during the time we split stayed at a non-MK area resort. Don't do it! DD enjoyed it and had fun making smores, etc., but like a previous poster said, it is a royal PITP to get back to a non-MK area resort. There are so many fun things you can do at your home resort or at a park, etc. that I would just skip this. Like I said DD enjoyed it, but it has never been mentioned again as a must do on subsequent trips.

Just my thoughts.

I agree that it would be the more scenic ride, but don't have have to go by the FW entrance when coming from POR heading to MK?

cmonroe: Maybe, but they won't stop there. :confused3
