How do I get to Downtown Disney?

What is the best way to get from the Contemporary to DTD? Can I go from Epcot by boat? Can I get a bus from the TTC or from the Contemporary? Also, where does one get left off at DTD? We want to go shopping, and also to Disney Quest. Also, how does one get back from DTD to the parks or resort?

You can take a bus directly from your resort to DTD and back to your resort. The buses do not run from DTD to the parks or vice versa.

You would then get off the bus at the Downtown Disney (aka first) stop.
You would then go shopping, working your way from that far end of DtD, over past (through or around) Pleasure Island, to Disney Quest.
And finally, you would board the bus back to the Contemporary at the Pleasure Island/West End bus stop, just to the left of Planet Hollywood

The boats from Epcot's International Gateway do not go to Downtown Disney. The boats from Downtown Disney go to and from Old Key West, Port Orleans Riverside & French Quarter and Saratoga Springs.
