hi guys,

this may sound like a really silly question, but in January me and some friends (4 of us so far, but there are others who will probably be coming) are going to dlp, and I want to make them as excited as possible about it!

does anyone have any good ideas? we're all around 21-22, and I want to tell them things to look forward to...but there seems to be so much, and of course for a lot of it you have to see it to get it...

i'm also trying to convince my boyfriend to come, and since a few of his friends are up for it i think this may help, however i want him to realllly love it! any ideas what a 29 year old musician and huge film fan would find fun at dlp...? cinemagique for a start!

also, any extra tips from you guys on how to make this extra special? we're staying at the sequoia lodge and its my friends bday so we're hoping to get an upgrade to a montana room *fingers crossed*!

Hello

My husband never gets all that excited for a holiday until the week or so before. Utterly useless when I'm bouncing around for months before hand and wanting to share the excitement lol

Finding a balance between talking about it and just boring the other person is tricky :)

Showing brochures is really good usually. Other than that it depends on their interests - the rides, if there long enough have an afternoon in Paris (sightseeing, museums etc), for animal lovers tell them about the nearby aquarium, some the hotels have live music don't they in the evenings (Cheyenne I think does).

Good luck! x

I'm going through the same thing with my friends at the moment lol. We're 20-21 and I'm the only one who has been to a Disney park before!! I think you're right for the mostpart, its the whole seeing it to get it.

I've been randomly showing them clips on YouTube. But I think as Demonica said, a day out to Paris usually helps. It gives them a break from the park and a chance to miss it!! lol. Your boyfriend would probably prefer the likes of Disney Studios and Discoverland.... I know loads of people are disappointed with it but it LOVE the Armageddon Attraction, and if he's a film fan that would probably be right up his alley! Along with the Moteur Cars Stunt Show!!

Good Luck with the Disney Converting!!! lol

great tips thanks so much - i think you're right about the moteurs action one which i had forgotten all about!

what is it with a lot of guys HATING disney? perhaps it is just me but a few of my boyfriends have hated the 'corporate-ness' of Disney...it's like...I don't think Disney are the only culprits of this!

haha, anywayyyy...slightly off topic there - does anyone know if dlp still offer a free dvd?? i think this would be a fantastic thing to show them! i had one but i have no idea where it is now...i think it was called 'the magic is closer than you think'?

i really wish disney would promote more for 20-30 somethings...i know kids love it, but so do big kids, and by not advertising this fact, i think some people do see it as a kiddies holiday...which is totally not the case! does anyone agree?

How can anybody hate Disney!? That's blasphemy!!! lol

See, I think you've hit the nail right on the head there! Most of my friends just see it as a place for kids. They don't even realise that there's rollercoasters and PLENTY for us "grown-ups"! lol. Besides, Mickey is there!! What else does anybody need to know!?!?!?!?!

As for the DVD. I remember that!! I haven't seen it advertised anymore though so I'm not sure. All I know is that since planning our trip in October, my life has revolved around going to work, coming home and living on Disboards and Youtube for all things Disney!! lol. Maybe there's stuff on Youtube you can show your friends to make them realise it's an adult holiday just as much as a kids holiday!

You hang in there Wendybird and fight the good fight for Disney!! I'll back you!! lol :cheer2:

haha is there a better fight to fight?? i doubt it!

i'll definitely look on youtube, i feel that may be an untapped resource...i'll also have a look on ebay to see if there is anyone selling that dvd - you never know!!

I was going to suggest ebay too. Actually, there are DVD's on there which people have made about Disney when they've been on holiday but they've done it all professionally. I got one a year or so back - just as good as the promotional ones in some cases as they actually have the entire film on some of the rides as well... I stick one on when I need a Disney boost!!! lol

And you're right! There is no better fight to fight!! lol

I don't know if your friends like things like this but maybe they get more excited if you let someone sent them a character postcard from DLRP. Or you could design or request a t-shirt design (@ a DISign thread) with trip dates and DLP pics for all of you guys. Then they have a souvenir beforehand.

You can tell your boyfriend what adult things one can do there (despite the fact that it's fantastic in the parks and to feel like a child again)... and how romantic it would be to see fireworks under the castle with him.

I posted some things you can do with them in the Village under Cyranos "adult things" thread.

Good luck!
