We are going to try orange peels and coffee grinds to start with. And yes, part of the reason we need to get them out from under the house is because they are tearing stuff up and we are trying to put new underpinning up. We have only lived here just over a year and taking projects one at a time. I need to get the cats out so I can put up the underpinning and not have these cats trapped under my house to die.
As I sit here typing this there is another cat sitting outside my window.
As far as shooting at the dogs...I have a BB pistol that I shoot. My husband uses a 410 shotgun. But I am not going to wait for them to attack my DD before I try to do something. Prevention is better. They are lucky we have not actually shot the dogs. That is what we truly want to do. I don't like pit bulls and have no use for them. If they wouldn't name them "Killer" I would try to be more understanding. As I said, we live in the county not city. There is no animal control in the county either. We are very responsible gun owners. We keep them locked up in a gun safe and don't just shoot at random. We would never take any chances. My yard is 1 1/2 acres fully fenced. I should be able to enjoy my yard without fear of a neighbors dog.
We had a neighbor(thankfully he moved) who had 12 or more dogs. All mutt types. He felt they should be allowed to roam. They all had the mange. We tried calling everybody. The JP, SPCA, the county...no one could do anything. When he lost his house and moved he left the dogs...all of them. The realtor notified the county, the county came out and dumped a 50lb bag of food for them. The county told us to shoot them and to call them back when they were all dead and they would remove them. The neighbors took turns killing them. The county came back and buried them in the back yard and put lime powder all over the yard.
Wait...OMG the county told people to shoot dogs??!??!! Holy crap.
FWIW if you have cats living UNDER your mobile home, that means that other animals could get under there too. Your home should have some sort of perimeter barrier so critters can't get under there and do damage. Pulling out insulation, moisture/urine, etc can do tons of damage and cost you lots of $$. Time to put up some rabbit hutch wire or something similar to keep ALL critters out. As it is, if you get rid of the cats you'll probably just end up with squirrels, mice, rats, etc. under there. If you feel like you can't afford the barricade then you certainly can't afford the damage that could be done.
just let the dogs out.. problem solved

Those loose dogs are lucky they don't live near where my husband's best friend used to live in TX. He lived near an exotic animal "park", very loosely owned and run, and once came home to a police blockade b/c a couple of the "big cats" had gotten loose.
Rural anywhere is interesting, but rural Texas seems even more so!
bad pitt bull owners=bad pitt bulls. .
very intellectualjust let the dogs out.. problem solved
