your blue badge will be valid at Disney hotels and parks.

It *should* be valid in Florida, BUT it's best to apply for a temporary parking permit
(ETA : Florida as in "outside of disney")

you need to email sjewell@osceola.org (osceola tax office) to request an out of country parking permit

you'll need to send (by email) a copy (scanned) of the blue badge (back and front) as well as a copy of the disabled person's passport (bio page with picture)

as well as your home adress (UK) and adress while in the US and intended dates of stay

here are the requirements

Please be advised that all correspondence should now be directed to Samantha at sjewell@osceola.org or Holly at hmccommon@osceola.org. We are now handling issuance of temporary parking permits for out of country residents. We look forward to assisting you in your needs. If you are unable to reach us or do not receive a response within 24 hours, please email webinfo@osceola.org or call our main office at (407) 742-4000.

You may apply for a temporary disabled parking permit through our office if you will be visiting our state from another country. To receive the disabled parking permit by mail before your trip, please provide the following for the disabled individual:

· A copy of your valid parking placard/badge (front and back)

· A copy of your valid passport including the picture and biography page (not the visa)

· Your home address and telephone number

· The temporary address you will use while staying in Florida

· The date of your arrival and departure

$15.00 in US Funds -- Money order, check, or debit/credit card (American Express, Discover or MasterCard) is acceptable. There is a 2.5 % service fee if using credit or debit card. (If you wish to mail a check or money order, please make payable to Patsy Heffner, CFC) Unfortunately, as of May 1, 2009, we NO LONGER ACCEPT VISA.

*** Please do not email your credit card details as email correspondence is public record.

The above requirements may be mailed to:

Patsy Heffner Tax Collector

Attn: Samantha or Holly

1300 9th Street, Ste. 101-B

St. Cloud, FL 34769

If you prefer, you may email the documents as scanned attachments. You may also fax the information to (407) 892-8076. We will email a confirmation that documents have been received and are acceptable. Please call (407) 742-3879 or (407) 742-3883 to speak with us, between the hours of 8 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday with payment details if you wish to pay with credit. If you are unable to reach us directly regarding payments, please call (407) 742-3880 or (407) 742-3884 and speak with Tina or Debbie. Thank you and have a beautiful day!

Sincerely,

once you've sent this, you'll receive an email from Osceola Tax office, and you'll be required to phone to pay for the permit ($15 valid for 3 months) NEVER send your credit card details by email as they're public record in Florida

here goes this email

Hello! We have received your documents to process a temporary permit for your visit to Florida. There is a 2.5 % service fee if using credit or debit card. (If you wish to mail a check or money order, please make payable to Patsy Heffner, CFC)

Unfortunately, we DO NOT accept VISA. If you do not have a MasterCard, Discover or American Express, you may have a friend or family member call our office with card details to make payment. It will be required for them to email or fax authorization to make payment.

(Example of email or fax: “I, Samantha Jewell, authorize payment on my (Discover) ending in 1234 to be made for Holly McCommon permit request”)

Please do not email your credit card details as email correspondence is public record.

Please contact us at (407) 742-3879 or (407) 742-3883 between the hours of 8 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday with payment details if you wish to pay with credit. If you are unable to reach us directly regarding payment, please call Debbie at (407) 742-3884 or Tina at (407) 742-3880.

Once payment is processed, you'll be sent your permet roughly one month before your trip and will be valid for 3 months including the month you're arriving in Florida (that's why you need to supply your intended dates of stay)

We've parked both on and off Disney property using DH's UK Blue Badge without any problem on several holidays. The only thing we were careful to do was rig up a system to hang it from the rear view mirror as they do in the US rather than leaving it on the dashboard as we do here.

We are extremely lucky that knee replacement surgery 2 years ago means that DH no longer needs his Blue Badge, so summer 2012 was the last time he used his. That having been said, the following website http://fdhsmv.rapidinsites.com/answer/out-state-or-country-disabled-parking-permit from September 2013 and updated in May 2014, confirms Florida will honour disabled parking badges provided they clearly show the international symbol accessibility which of course the UK one does. It is only necessary to apply for a temporary pass if yours doesn't show this. It is however easy and not expensive to apply for a temporary pass if you feel the need to do so. It's your choice. We didn't and had no problems anywhere (Malls, Universal, Seaworld, Beaches etc).
