Oh my :( I just got my laundry out of the dryer, only to find my DD left a crayon in her clothes & EVERYTHING including the dryer has what looks to be dried crayon that looks more like dried ink... any way to get it out??

:( This is the pits

I don't have any answers for you, but that's exactly the reason I check EVERY pocket of any item that has one before I put it in the washing machine!

To get the crayon out of the dryer, you need to use WD-40 and rub it all off. It will take awhile. They run a load of dry, clean white rags through to make sure you got all the crayon out. As for the clothes, Crayola recommends washing them again in hot water with a color safe bleach. My DD just did this last week, and most of her t-shirt type shirts were ruined, the crayon never came out. Her jeans did come clean, but her stretchpants also bit the dust. I re-washed them THREE times before giving up, she ended up ruining 3 pairs of pants, 4 shirts and 2 pairs of PJ's.

I had the same thing happen to me! Ugh, that was a pain. I scraped off as much as I could off of my DS's shirt and then I sprayed it w/ Zout and let it soak in water. For the dryer, I scraped out as much as I could and then used rubbing alcohol (keep your head out of the dryer) and rubbed out as much as I could. I agree w/ the other poster, run the dryer w/ rags as to loosen the crayon marks left over. Here's to your marks coming out of the dryer. :wizard:

I've heard that for clothes you can also scrape off as much as you can with a butter knife and then set up a stack of paper towels on your ironing board. Heat the iron to medium low and put paper towels above and below the stain. Gently press the item--this is supposed to melt the wax and let it bleed into the paper towels. Once no more color/wax will tranfer to the towels, treat with a stain stick, soak, and rewash.

Good luck!

I did it myself. I found a broken piece of black crayon, stuck it in my jeans shorts pocket and forgot about it. It melted and left a quarter size stain on the pocket. After dozens of washings it never came out, it was like an ink stain. But I could wear the shorts, with a long tee shirt over them.

Good luck.

Just a quick follow up....

I've tried several potions in the dryer... the nail polish remover, rubbing alcohol, windex, none of it worked... Then I got the soft scrub out... I used a bit, it DOES work, but I'm not strong enough to keep rubbing! I also don't have enough softscrub... I tried it on the pants & it also worked, but I'm not strong enough to keep rubbing it... I'll update again after DH gets more softscrub & he uses his muscles to try to get some of this mess out!

I really like the idea of using the iron with the paper towels... I'm going to use that on the towels... One thing I forgot about, we can't use these towels unless we can get some layers of this stuff off, it'll happen all over again :(

Try Spot Shot. It's a product for stains on carpets, but I swear that stuff works on EVERYTHING. When nothing else worked I used it on an old grease stain on my favorite shirt and it took it right out.

yup wd40...your laundry is gonna stink but it works...it has happend to me...oh lordy was i horrified of what i saw come out of the drier..but with lots of patience and wd40 it all finally came out...

For materials, try scrubing them with Pine Sol then Blue Wisk (alternating back & forth). My grandmother was able to get green crayon out of a lavender/white check bedspread. It will take quite a bit of rubbing, but this works on tough stains. Once even got out black india ink!!! Have also used Murphy's Pine Oil Soap on stains, too. Good Luck.

Goo gone

just like wd40 flammable--be careful when using product

If you know someone in pro auto detail--acrysol--that is what is used--also flammable

Here's an update!

The Goo Gone worked to get all the crayon out of the dryer... AND, we got all the crayon out of the clothing & towels too! That took a bit more work, DH put three scoops of oxi clean in the washing machine with hot water along with regular laundry detergent... before he did that he pre-treated everything with the oxi-clean pre-treater... He ran it through... repeated this one more time & VOILA! Everything is clean... the stains that are left are in a towel which I don't particularly care about... I'm really happy DH figured this out!!

I sure know about goo gone--glad it helped you--we always keep a bottle in the house nowadays with kids--

I will give you another tip that I learned from parenting--getting permant marker out of clothes and the wall!! hair spray--plain cheap hairspray!! i had this issue at one time and my boss let me in on that trick!!

Glad we could help!! :flower:

I haven't read all the responses, but wanted to suggest Goof Off. :)
