I used the 429 off the Turnpike to get into FW this December, but when I was leaving, something went wrong besides the rain. I wound up in some backlot area, where they assemble Christmas decorations, I think. I wound up going back past FW and out onto 535 and I-4. What is the path back to 429 from the Fort? :confused3

Right out of FW on Vista, then right on N. World like you are heading to Wilderness Lodge.
Left on Seven Seas, Left on Floridian which will then merge back on to N. World Drive (which then becomes World Drive) going the other direction by the HESS station and AAA auto repair. (you have to make a big circle). Then follow the signs for 429. You will be heading towards the entrance to Epcot, go past that. If you miss the ramp (that leads to Buena Vista), you can make a right turn at Buena Vista. Then turn right on Western Way that will put you back on to 429.. Where you can really get messed up is when you first leave the Fort.

Once you get back on World Drive the directions (signage) is really easy to follow.

Hope this helps

Much easier way to avoid the Magic Kingdom area.

Left on Vista Boulevard out of the Fort, right at the first light Bonnet Creek Parkway, then right at E. Buena Vista Drive. Stay in the center lane till you pass World Drive, then it becomes W. Buena Vista Drive, then turn right at Western Way just past Coronado Springs. Then you will be led directly to 429 North.

Thanks.. Nobody ever told me about that way.. will save me some time next month..:yay:

Here is the route that the Disney busses take to get to the back entrance of Coronado Springs which is on Western Way. That's where you're trying to get to in order to get to 429.

Left out of the Fort.
Right at Bonnet Creek.
Right at next light puts you on Epcot Center Dr. north which leads into World Dr. south. Don't take the exit on right to Epcot, or the next one to MK.
Once you're on World Dr., take exit that says Blizzard Beach, Coronado Springs, etc.
Bear right off that exit which puts you on Buena Vista Dr, but avoids most of the lights.
Take right at second light, Western Way.

Please don't confuse the blonde! LOL I was thinking of taking that way, but think that the 2 hours I would spend driving in circles would make just hopping on I-4 much easier for me.:rolleyes:

Got it. Now that I see it on a map and compare to your directions, it makes sense. Many thanks. :teacher: I'm still amazed that in all the years we've been going there, there are still a lot of streets that lead to parts unknown. :thumbsup2

Be forewarned, the Turnpike is closed between 429 and 75 and you will be shunted off to a nightmare detour. I have no idea how long the closure is for, but it made for a very unpleasant return to the real world when we left the Fort on Dec 15! (BTW, I use Carol's route)

Yep, apparently there was an accident on the 13th or 14th that damaged a bridge/overpass, plus with all the other construction going on, kindof really messed up that portion of the Turnpike. I left early on the 13th, so went through going home there just before the accident.

We left the 2nd of Jan. and it was open.
Now for a laugh... other route that I didnt see posted to 429:
from magic kingdom go toward the hess station, before reaching it turn right,
then right again (like if you are going back from the station), at the next stop
....turn left..... is a cast members only road...... we ended up there following the darn gps, but it is actually a big short cut. You go around their food and recycle facilities and go out thru a gate to the exit of disneyworld on Western way, right at the entrance of 429.
Now this was just for a laugh, I sweatted thru all of the "short cut" wondering if I had to unhook the towed car to turn around and go back.
Can u say I don't do well with machines giving me orders?

That road you took is called Bear Island Rd and you can go out but not in because of the gate. It's a back stage area and non cast members should not be back there. It does cut out a litttle time but I don't recommend it. In addition to other services, the huge WDW bus maintenance facility is located back there.

The Turnpike is open again all the way thru, from the Keys to I75.Unless someone else has done something stupid. It opened about 7-10 days after it was closed.

Thats the problem with machines. They dont know when someone puts a pesky gate in the way.Or better yet as mine did, tell me to turn right in the middle of a bridge.
