How do I fit character meets on planning?

I'm a big planner for this kind of thing. I like to at least have a day outlined so when I get there I can stop worrying where I should go and just walk to the attractions/etc and enjoy myself. (I went to Disneyland once when I was 14 with noooo idea what to do, I was super overwhelmed and cried @ Toontown because I was on DISNEYLAND but hadn't done almost anything because I didn't know what to do and felt like I wasted that precious time in there orz)

What I want to do, is see which attractions and entertainment we want to go, see them on the map, and match them with the ADRs we have and the counter services we want to visit.

But then there's the character meetings... I've heard about looong lines for them, and them showing up in random places, and, and... How exactly do they work? Are there some set places, and times, or it's partially/totally luck?

I want to add them onto my schedule, but have no idea on how to do so. ):

The majority of the character meets are at specific times and locations. You can find those on websites like kenny the pirate. Just google that and his website should come up.
There is another website too but I can't think of the name of it right now.

There are a couple - like characterpalooza in Hollywood Studios - that are sometimes they have it, sometimes they don't. I'm not sure how to track that one down.

I usually start with a list of characters I know I want to meet, find out where and when they meet on the kenny the pirate website and plan from there.

I try not to make myself too crazy over it but it is nice to have some idea what I'm doing so I know how you feel.

Good luck!

Some of them don't show up on Oct12th on Disney's website, so I'll check the website you mentioned, thank you!

I'm afraid of how long they might take, and that ends up screwing up our schedule or something. ):
