How do I figure out how many years I can borrow for?

Hello all! I am trying to figure out how many years I can borrow points for (about 100 points each time and I have 160 pts at BLT) before running out and having to skip a year? Or buy more points TIA!

I'm not sure that you've provided enough details to answer.

You said that you own 160 and something about borrowing 100. Was your reservation for 260 points? If so, you won't even be able to go two years in a row.

With those numbers, by Year Two you have only 60 current points available and 160 available to borrow. That's just 220 total.

Well, I got 2009 points and used those for my trip in August, borrowed 86 points from 2010 and banked 74, leaving 234 for my trip NEXT August. I am planning on borrowing 105 points from 2012 UY. Normally, I wouldn't use this many points but we are getting a 2BR at BLT for 4 nights and all that was left was LV, so I had to use 210 points, and then 129 points at BCV for 3 nights. Last trip I only used 246 total, which would be about my normal, but I would still have to borrow. Hopefully this helps!

WOW.. that is so different from your OP..

so for 2012 you only have 55 pts left after all this.. If you say your normal would be 246, you are already short for 2012, because the most you could borrow from 2013 is 160 which would be a total of 215 points for 2012 and no points for 2013.

You could of course borrow from 2014 to get 160 points in 2013, but that would be the most you could get for each of the successive years unless you skipped a year to build it back up..

LOL yes, sorry, I was not thinking when I posted that. So basically I will have to add on sooner than expected I don't want to skip a year. Initially when we purchased we told ourselves we would go every other year and bank our points but now we can't bring ourselves to do that!

Speaking hypothetically...

Year #1 You have 160 points from Yr. 1 and use 1/2 of Year 2's points (80) it gives you 240 points to use in Year 1.

Year #2 You have 80 points left. Borrow 160 points from Year #3 to give you 240 points to spend in Year 2.

Year #3 has NO POINTS LEFT to use. Skip this year...or do an add-on.

Year #4 You are back to having 160 points. Repeat the process.

You need to add on if you plan on going every year.
