Hi all, Hope everyone is having a great day.

On our last trip, my DD (age 5) asked me why the characters (Mickey, Minnie, etc) don't talk like they do in the movies or t.v. The thing I could come up with is for the Toy Story characters (they don't talk when humans are around). But I have no idea what to tell her about the rest. My lame excuse was Mickey's saving his voice for the shows.

How do you explain it to your children without killing the magic? Thanks, Sbella

My kids understand that Tom Hanks does the voice for Woody. And Ellen does Dory, and so on. They recognize the voice acotrs on other shows. So we told them the characters don't talk at the parks because the actors who do their voices live somewhere else, and it would be really funny if Tom Hanks tried to follow Woody around all day and talk for him...hiding behind his back and stuff you know? :rotfl2:

I would tell my child that Mickey hugs and uses hand gestures as a way of communicating with people from around the world since many people don't speak english.

Thanks for the replies & the link to the other thread (funny, someone else was thinking the same thing). Thanks so much, Sbella
