How do I clean wool sweaters?

I usually never wear wool or wool blend shirts or sweaters. For some reason I had a crazed shopping moment and bought a bunch of them. Now I've worn two so far and would really like to know how to "freshen" them up without having to take them to the dry cleaner after wearing them once. They aren't dirty, but I know I was sweating in them, between wool being warm and peri-menopause, well, yep they do have a faint odor.

Any suggestions?

I use Dryel through out the winter for all my heavy sweaters. I do take them to the dry cleaner though for the end of the season. It helps that the dry cleaner offers free storage :thumbsup2

Someone was explaining the wonders of how Dryel works on this thread:

Also, when I wear a blouse or sweater I know is going to be hard to clean, I wear a thin t-shirt underneath. This way, I only have to wash the tee, and the outer garment less often. It works great if you sweat. :thumbsup2

I have to wear a shirt under wool otherwise I look like a monkey the way I scratch and rub myself  . I also switched to a mineral salt deodorant so it doesn't give me the odor protection of other deodorants.

I can tell you, don't wash them the traditional way.

My friend's DH washed several of her wool sweaters and dried them in the dryer and they all shrank to kid size. :rotfl2: She gave them all to my DD, so we really made out in the deal. I hope her hubby does laundry again! :rolleyes1
