How do I clean vaseline from clothes?

I ended up with a vaseline smear on a new skirt. Without noticing, I washed it and dried it in the dryer. I realized what I had done, washed it again, this time putting liquid soap directly on the stain and line drying it. The smear stain is still there. Any suggestions?

Do you have any Simple Green spray laying around? Try that.

A grease cutting dish soap like Dawn usually works. Maybe try it again but this time use an old toothbrush to scrub it a little. I had to do this last winter when DH left a lip balm in his pocket and it went through the wash and dryer. It took some time but it worked.

I'm just glad you are asking about getting vaseline off clothes and not off a herd of cats like a post last week.

I second the Dawn. Keep washing and line drying. Shampoo also works because it is made to cut through grease on hair.

Yup, Dawn will do it. My toddler got into a jar of Vaseline a few weeks ago and smeared it all over everything - clothing, his hair, the walls, the carpet, my laptop... :scared1: Dawn took it right out of everything.

Dawn or shampoo, work it in with your finger don't use a toothbrush because even the softest toothbrush can cause some damage to certain fabrics.... if you think you absolutely have to use a toothbrush then only use it from the backside. Then hand wash the area with the hottest water possible... make sure to use your fingers to really work the area.
