Hi there,

We have just received compensation from Disney Cruise line in the form of a cheque. The problem being, we use pounds in the UK and the cheque is in dollars. I was wondering as we are about to return to Florida in the coming weeks, how could we cash the cheque as we don't have a US bank account. Do you think they would accept this as part of room payment for instance, this is a genuine Disney cheque.

Many thanks in advance,

I would think that any large bank in Scotland would be able to do this for you if you have proper id. They might put a hold on it until it clears, but they should be able to handle it.

If you can't have it cashed at home, look for the bank it was drawn on. You can find the bank on-line and look for a branch close to where you'll be. They will be able to cash it for you with proper I.D. Your bank at home should be able to take care of it for you. I used to be a bank teller and we would order currency for people that were going to travel abroad with conversion tables.

Folks,

I have been able to deposit foreign cheques to my chequing account here in Canada without a problem -- both cheques drawn on American banks in US $ and those drawn on British banks in £ sterling. The bank does the exchange :teacher: and posts the amount to our account. It should be noted that our bank is a "virtual" bank with all deposits and withdrawals handled through ATMs.

As others have shared, I fully expect any bank in Scotland would be able to handle this transaction for the OP. :thumbsup2
