How do I book a Universa Studios Hotel?

We're going to WDW in August 2005 and staying in a villa. I'm planning to spend one night at a US hotel but don't know how to go about booking it.

I looked on their website and it only asked for number of adults with no mention of children. If I book for 2 adults is it then OK to turn up with 2 adults and 2 children?

Or should I get Virgin (with whom we've booked the flydrive) to book us 1 night - do they do this?

Or is there a phone number I should call?

Any advice appreciated.

I have always booked the HRH direct at the Hotel - sorry don't have the number to hand as I'm at work.

If you go on the web-site sign up for a Loews card (which is free) as this will give you a discount on the room price. Also if you're an AA member you can get an AAA card and that will also entitle you to a discount. Plus, if you get an Annual Pass for US/IOA that's another discount. I find speaking direct to the hotel reservations means that I get exactly what I want.

Have fun booking and hopefully someone will post the number of the Hotels for you.

I booked direct with Universal by phone, 2 night s for 5 (one room ) is $269 per night inc breakfast. They also said that this is the currnt best rate iut to keep phoning back and we can get a cheaper rate as and when they become available. I thought htis was great!!!!!!!! This is an advantage of booking direct with the hotel, also you can specify room location.(we did not want to be in the area of the hotel where they allow dogs)
Virgin rates were dearer and once booked are fixed, hope this helps. We are staying at Royal Pacific , the loews card does not get you a discount as far as I am aware, just free in room bits and pieces , cookies, milk etc.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Hi,

Get an Entertainment Book, and then ring the hotel and ask for the Entertainment Rate. We stayed 1 night at the RPR in May this year for $144, the Rack Rate was $210.

There's some great tips here on the Boards on the Universal Hotel Forums and the Budget Board on how to save a few quids.

Good luck...................:earsgirl:

Sorry, yes, Poet is right - Loews card doesn't give you a discount, just the freebies in the room (still worth it tho!!).

If you're booking online for a family just make sure you select the correct room type so that it includes beds for the children as well (ie 2 doubles as opposed to one king) and you'll be fine with the chilfren too :)

Hi

We have used Expedia a few times they have given some discounts. I would get a quote direct and check it out on Expedia. Sometimes Expedia comes out cheaper.

Good luck

Thanks for all your replies. I'm going to do a little more investigating but I think I have another problem now as DS (13) is terrified of dogs and I mean terrified. Do all the hotels allow dogs and if so are they obvious. I know our trip would be spoilt if there were many dogs about as DH gets quite cross with DS's fear.

Libby,
That is why we are specifying a hotel area away from the dog zone!!!DS 2 (16) is the same actually shakes if a dog approaches!! He was badly bitten as a child so we need to be well away from the dog zones.
We are staying at RPR and they said we wuld get a room well away from this area

Has anyone ever had an AP discount in the summer? We're planning 3 nights on-site in July 2005.

Trying to decide whether to get 4 x 5-for-2 tickets which would be great value for us, or to get 3 of those + 1 AP incase we can get a hotel discount with it later. Should I 'gamble' the extra £35? ;)
