Shawshank Redemption is one of my favorite movies. Never before have I seen the very beginning of this movie. Guess I always come upon the movie after it has already started.

Anyone else have a movie like this?

This was the first time I had ever seen the part with Andy's hearing.

Who else loves this movie? What makes it so great?

It does break my heart when Brooks (I think that is his name) gets out and doesn't know how to live.

OMG! I am the same way with this movie!! I think because it's always on TV and I just never happen to be flipping through at the beginning of ANYTHING.

I'm like this with Shawshank Redemption, The American President (although I finally rented it and saw it in all it's glory), The Silence of the Lambs (thank goodness I watch this on cable so I can flip to other channels during scary parts) and Pretty Woman (never did see the whole thing).

There are just some movies that play ALL the time on cable and I never catch them at the beginning... I think I need to invest in a TV Guide or something

That is hysterical- here I am sitting here thinking the SAME THING! I have always caught the movie 1/2 way through or right before the end. Never have seen it from the beginning!

So funny!

Did you see the beginning tonight?

No Pretty Woman all the way through? Oh my!

:guilty: I know, it was on today and DBF almost threw me out on the street when he heard I had never seen all of Pretty Woman.

Shawshank Redemption is one of my all time favorite movies. I never miss it when it is on. One of my favorite sayings is from this movie. It is from the Character Red. He says "Get busy living, or get busy dying". Odd, I know for a favorite saying, but I have never been able to get it out of my head.

Shawshank is that movie for me. I've never seen the begining. And I own the dvd! I've never watched it all teh way through either.

Brooks breaks my heart. I feel so bad for him.

This is one of my very favorite movies, and there are so many reasons I love it. First is the narration by Morgan Freeman, his voice is so soothing to me I could listen to him forever. Second is the script, so very poetic. Third is the story, I love stories of justice and redemption. Next is the music, it is not overt but is so important to the feeling of the movie. Next is the friendships Andy creates in prison, especially the bond with Red. We love these two men by the end of the film. The cinematography is wonderful...don't you feel like you are in that prison? I could go on and on, this is one great movie.

I too love this movie. I think my DS18.5 loves it more than me!.
I too can watch it all the time. (I think, though, I watch Appolo 13 more often)

I own the dvd too.

Brooks is adorable!

Even though I know exactly how the story goes I still want to stay up and watch the entire thing now.

Apollo 13 is another one I could watch over and over. I bought the special edition dvd and haven't even opened it though. For some reason I don't think to watch my dvd collection but any time I see the movie on tv I have to watch it.
