How do FastPasses work?

We are in the very preliminary stages of planning our first cruise. I am really eyeing the 7 night out of NY that includes a day at Disney World. Will we be given tickets to link ahead of time to schedule fast passes for the day at Disney, or do they hand out paper fast passes?

We go online and we can select 3 fast passes 30 days prior. Each fast pass must be spaced a minimum of an hour apart. Once you have used up all of your fast passes, you can go on the app and book 1 additional fast pass. After that one is used, you can book another one.............and so on.

keep in mind that anyone staying on property will have the ability to book fast passes 60 days out, so some rides will not have fast passes at the 30 day out mark.

PP's response appears to be standard for a pre- or post-cruise WDW stay.

You are considering the Bahama cruise out of NYC with a port stop at Port Canaveral/WDW? It includes a one-day park hopper ticket, but you won't have that until you are onboard. Therefore, they give you 3 "anytime/anywhere" Fastpasses -- these do not need to be scheduled ahead, just use them as you wish. I'm not sure if you then have access to 4th FP+, etc. There is a thread around here discussing it.

Does anyone know if the fastpasses you get on the cruise are transferrable? For instance, say you have 4 people in your party, and one person only uses one of their fastpassses, can they give the other 2 to other people in their group?

Your FP will be on your ticket, you will scan that at the FP terminal and that allows you in line. WDW doesn't care who uses the FP, if you walk up and scan a ticket and it has a FP on it then you can go in. As long as you aren't trying to sneak more people in then you are good to go.

I believe Pandora is excluded from these FPs.

Good point about Pandora at AK for this fall! I don't know if that rule will remain in place by the 2018 cruises or not. Anybody planning for 2018 will just need to stay tuned.

this is all good info.

So if you are an annual pass holder (or you are using older tickets that you already have for park admission) and you dont buy the day ticket as an excursion, then you wont get the paper fast passes.

The park hopper is included in your cruise fare. If you don't use it, you don't get money back. DCL provides complimentary busing to and from WDW on the Port Canaveral day.

Thank you all. The earliest we would cruise is fall 2018. I was debating fall 2019 to see Star Wars Land (hopefully), but if there are exclusions on the Fast Passes for new attractions I won't count on doing that.

They put them on this year when they saw how popular Pandora was (even after everyone whined about it), so I'd say it's almost a 100% thing that Star Wars stuff will be excluded for a LONG time since everyone but me is all hyped up about that.
