If a family of 3 with two having a DAS, how does that work now?
Can there be two return times per ticket or is it strictly one return time per ticket?

If you are asking about Disneyland, the DAS is now tied to the DAS holder's ticket. The tickets of the other members of their party would also be tied to the DAS holder's ticket.
This is as of November 2014 and is listed as a trial, but I see no reason they would not continue it.

So, one DAS Return Time at a time, not multiple.

With 2 people in one party having DAS, I can't guarantee what would happen, but expect:
- if either or both of the guests who need DAS always have to have someone with them, Guest Relations might only issue one DAS. Since neither could be left alone and the DAS holder must go on the attraction, there would be no reason to have 2 DAS.
issuing only one would prevent one type of abuse where people were getting more DAS cards so they could double up on DAS Return Times.

- if both of the DAS holders can be left alone, Guest Relations would probably issue DAS to both. The Companion's ticket would probably be linked to both DAS.
In order to all go on the same attraction, both DAS holders would probably need to get a DAS Return TIme for that attraction, with the companion on one of the Return Times.
If one didn't want to ride, only the person wanted to get a DAS Return Time, with the companion's ticket also linked to go with. The non-riding guest would wait while the companion goes on an attraction with the other DAS holder.

If the non-riding guest can wait alone, they can probably ride alone, in which case they could get a return time of their own that is concurrent to the return time that the other DAS holder and the companion have.

No, one return time on the DAS at a time, which would mean only one return time per ticket, if at DL.

Allowing more than one at a time would defeat the purpose of the return time.
Correct - only one return time per DAS at a time.

Correct - only one return time per DAS at a time.

And only one return time per person, right? So, between two DAS, a group of three could only have three people with a return time at a time? Either three on one DAS or two on one and one on the other? Or did I misunderstand the rules?

Yeah sorry the one per DAS thing is making it a bit confusing. In a group of 3 there would be one person with no DAS, could that person have two times on his card?

Not sure if you understand how the DAS works. The return time would be for the DAS holder as well as their guests. The DAS holder's card should say the number of guests they are allowed with them. If it says no number they can just stop bye guest relations and have them add a number (2 or 1) and use that. It sounds like you are a group that wouldn't travel together often. If that is the case and 2 people already have their own DAS you can have one person add 2 guests to their DAS at guest relations and use just one card.

If your party always travels together there is no need for 2 DAS cards. You would be issued a DAS for one person and then x number of guests to cover the whole party.

I think I understand the question in regards to how it works now at Disneyland.

Person A has a DAS. Person B has a DAS. Person C does not.

The whole group wants to ride Peter Pan. Person A presents their DAS, their ticket and Person C's ticket. The tickets are scanned and a return time is issued. Person B presents their DAS and ticket, which are scanned and a return time issues. All 3 ride together.

Person A wants to ride Dumbo whole Person B wants to ride Mr. Toad. Person A presents their DAS, their ticket and Person C's ticket. The tickets are scanned and a return time is issued. Person B presents their DAS, their ticket, and Person C's ticket. Person C's ticket has already been scanned for a return time, so Person B can either get a return time for 1 person, or wait until Person A and Person C ride Dumbo, then return to have Person C's ticket scanned.

Does that make sense? Each DAS can only have a single return time and each park ticket can only be attached to a single DAS return time, whether or not that ticket belongs to the DAS holder.

Again, this is a new system for Disneyland, not WDW at this time.

they would not HAVE a card at all.

the DAS is issued by name to the individual who needs the accommodation. it allows up to 5 companions to bypass the line and enter the FP+ line with the DAS holder. but the DAS holder MUST ride.

the only real reason I could see 2 DAS being issued to one group is if one DAS holder would not want to ( or be able to ) ride a certain ride that the other DAS holder would

there can only be one return time per DAS at a time.

I think what the PP was talking about is the new way that the DAS is being administered at DL and DCA.

The west coast has now moved over to an electronic version of the DAS. Also, there is no FP+ yet at DL/DCA.

Instead of getting a return time written on the DAS card, the DAS card is now linked electronically to not only the DAS holder's entry ticket or annual pass but also to the entry tickets or annual passes of everyone who is attached to the DAS. Before this change, the DAS just had a number of how many people were accompanying the DAS holder (in our case it used to say 3 which includes our son who is the DAS holder plus DH and me).

An entry ticket or annual pass can only have one DAS attached to it and this is potentially causing issues for families that need more than one DAS. For example, if we had a second child who also needed a DAS then what used to happen would be for each child to be issued a DAS and usually it would be valid for 2 people. This would allow either parent to accompany either child on a ride. Now that an entry ticket or annual pass can only be attached to one DAS, it means that in the example above, I could only accompany the child whose DAS was attached to my pass and DH could only accompany the other child if the two children wanted to go on different rides. Should child A decide that he wanted to ride with dad instead of mom, then we would most likely have to go back to City Hall and get them to switch over the DAS cards.

It's a little confusing with the two coasts having quite different ways of working with the DAS, especially now as DL/DCA has moved to an electronic version.

I haven't seen this confirmed, but I think it works more like the Frozen virtual queue, where they scan a ticket for the return time, but don't match the ticket to the person when a group returns. I'm sure at the very least you could switch who accompanies which child at the kiosk when you get the return time. They are still using the DAS card, so it's not completely electronic. The DAS holder still has to ride, but there is probably flexibility in the companion.

Someone who used the system said there was no physical card, so they had to write stuff down themselves.

In the blog it mentioned tickets and APs being assigned to someone's DAS versus it being so interchangeable. Since it's still pretty new and there aren't many people that need 2 DAS it'd hard to get the hard details of it.

Sorry I know all this but it doesn't answer what I'm wondering about - can the person with no DAS be registered to two separate DAS passes at the same time and also have two return times associated with their park ticket

Highly doubtful.

I think that's what's kind of up in the air since this is such a new method. But in all honesty, from other reports, it would seem that when they go to register you for a second time they'd see the first and decline.

Are the kids able to stay by themselves for a small period of time?

It's actually 3 adults only 2 in a park at a time..weird situation, service dog yadayada big headache.

If there was someone who couldn't stay alone, there would be no need for two DAS as they'd all have to go everywhere together.

I thought part of the point of the changes was to avoid this "double dipping" - where someone (or multiple someones) had two return times going at the same time.

OP - I suggest talking to Guest Services. They might be able to override things/rearrange things if there are reasons why the normal rules/procedures don't work for you.

If there are only two in the park at a time, there would be no reason for the non-DAS holder to have two wait times on his or her ticket at the same time.

DAS1 + non-DAS
DAS2 + non-DAS
DAS1 + DAS2
