How difficult to get DAS?

Hey folks! Got a question. How difficult is it to get approved for DAS? My situation is as follows: I have lumbar spinal stenosis and permanent nerve damage in both legs. I wear 2 leg braces. I cannot stand for more than 10 minutes without severe pain and can only walk short distances with the assistance of a cane. I've seen it mentioned that a need for a scooter is not sufficient for DAS. Any comments or insights would be welcome.

Typically, DAS is not given to an individual when mobility is the only concern. Disney would advise you to rent a scooter or wheelchair instead.

At WDW, the majority of lines are accessibility friendly (there are some exceptions to this, a cast member will direct you what to do/where to go at the ride entrance if it’s not accessible). DL lines are a little more limited when it comes to accessibility, but again the CMs are trained to help :) hope that is at least somewhat helpful!

I think that there is a confusion as to what a DAS actually does for a person. If you have a DAS, you get a return time based on what the current wait is. When you come back, you go through the Lightening Lane line(which used to be called the Fast Pass line). While that line is shorter, it can still take 20-30 minutes to get through since everyone with Genie+ is using that line also. So if you can not stand for more then 10 minutes, the DAS won't help you, you will still need some other sort of mobility aid. And since a mobility aid is what will help you, there is a very good chance that they will not qualify you for the DAS since most of the lines are wheelchair/ECV accessible. If an ECV helps you, then please use it so that you are not in pain.

I believe I was laboring under some false assumptions regarding DAS. After more research I realize my error. I will be renting an ECV while there. Between an off - peak trip date and Genie+ I don't anticipate too many problems. Now to get up bright and early 60 days out to book my table service dining!

Have a wonderful trip.
