How difficult is it to get seating for 5 at the tougher ADR's?

We are a family of 5 and have had trouble getting the time we want at LeCellier. I called ON the 180-day mark and was only able to get a 7:40 seating...way late with little ones. Plus the CM told me we most likely would miss Illuminations.

I have called numerous times since then hoping for an earlier cancellation...but no luck yet. Unless we are willing to split up, which we are not. Oh well...even if we don't get an earlier time, we still get to go! I know some people have trouble getting in at all. I am guessing because July is a very busy time of year it's a little harder to get the coveted ADRs.

If you have trouble getting seating for five, call back and try for six. Disney's system is weird.

Haha, we just found this out. When we were there earlier this month, we tried to make a ressie at Cinderella's Castle for the seven of us in our party. We had tried before the trip to do this, but had no luck then, so we tried again once we were there in case there was a cancellation. The person on the phone said that they didn't have anything available for 7, but if we could find one more person, they could take us for 8!! We weren't about to go find a stranger, and we didn't want to take away a ressie for a party of 8 that would really need it, so we couldn't do it. It really is a weird system.
