How did you save money today?

...and after a trip to the grocery store, had a special for buy 10 for $10 items, get .10 off a gallon of gas.... I did 2 of those (10 cans white tuna $10&7 cans tomato puree+3 cans kidney beans$10) plus buy5for$10 get .10 off gas(3 bottles of my fave laundry detergent+2 bottles of Dawn soap) all of which I use in quantity anyway.... so after weeks shopping (obviously I bought other items too lol) I accrued .40 off per gallon next fillup..... oh...got a gallon of milk that had 3 'save 1.00 now' stickers on it,with plenty of time left on the date- cashier said it meant 3.00 off that gallon so milk was .79!!!:thumbsup2

I went to radio shack and bought 3 prepaid cell phones. No, that's not saving money right now, but for each one I bought, I got 6 months of free netflix service (something we already have, and pay $7.99 a month for). The phones were only $9.99 each. So I'm set for the next year in a half for netflix, and I'll resell the phones, since we don't need them.

I bought a tub of Chicken Soup from Costco $10 my coworker purchased bread bowls from Panera $2 each and we put the chicken soup in there. 5 of us ate! It was better than Panera's soup.

I won a $30 target gift card from my mom's group so I went to stock up on diet coke as it was on sale 5 (12 packs) for $11. I got (10) ten 12 packs of coke products, 1 bag of smartfood popcorn, target brand squeeze applesauce packs (12 in box) and package of 10 markers for $3.57.

i filled up the car with gas in a neighboring town (next to Target) and paid a few cents less per gallon than the station I usually go to. Saved 64 cents <every penny counts>

we watched a Disney movie today that we checked out from the library rather than using redbox

that is it for today...

Thanks for the Awesome tip on Netflix through Radio Shack!! Guess where I'm going tomorrow :)

I've been saving on every tank of gas at Kroger since January. We are able to afford Disney because of inheritance from my parents, but didn't pay for it all at once. I am buying the Disney gift cards at Kroger getting 2X fuel points (4x on select holiday weekends), and getting $1.00 off every tank for both of our vehicles=HUGE savings!

I didn't spend any money today at all. That rarely happens. Normally we eat out some kind of fast food, but I was told to cut that out so I was proud to announce to my sweet husband that the kids and I did good today. This is huge for us because I average anywhere from $35-$40 a day on food.:scared1:

The cats collar broke, so I sewed it up rather than getting a new one. $8 for a cat collar

My cat is so funny, when her collar breaks she misses the bell - she'll bring the collar to me and demand I put in back on.

Do you realize how lucky you are to be able to do that? DD swam for 11 years.... 10 years on one team, last year on another. For the first 10 years there was nothing done/said to be sure that ALL parents volunteered (other than emails reminding everyone that we needed "all hands on deck" of course). As usual, some parents volunteered all the time and other snuck out of it and used every excuse in the book to avoid it. And we were a hosting team and hosted a LOT of big meets, including the YMCA state meet every year. It was really annoying! Over the years I was "team Mom", I did ribbons and awards, concessions, and for the last several years I ran Meet Manager.

Our last year she was on a team that required a $100 deposit from each family at the start of the season. If you volunteered for at least three events (this team wasn't a hosting team) during the season and recorded it, you got your $100 back at the end of the season. Volunteering included timing at meets (of course), serving food at some of the team get-togethers, stuff like that. Super easy... and STILL we had folks who found excuses!

So anyhow.... over the course of 11 years of swimming the only thing that I got from my HOURS and HOURS of volunteering was some GREAT friendships and my $100 back! So consider yourself LUCKY to have an opportunity to get reimbursed some of the fees!

Saving money this afternoon consisted of procrastinating! I needed to make a bank deposit but didn't really want to go out. I waited until DH was heading out and asked him to stop by the bank! :lmao: Saved gas (since he was going right by the bank) and my time! ...................P

I know I am lucky! Other than officials, this is the only way to get a discount on our team. I volunteered a lot before they gave me the position. ::yes::

We have been looking for a new tv stand for our sitting room. Yesterday DW was driving by this place that sells used items. Sitting out front was a beautiful real wood stand that was in incredible shape. Dw paid 35.00! It had the make and model number on the back. We Googled it and it sold for 395.00! DW paid less than 10%!

Yesterday was a good money saving day...

Earned $12 of swagbucks in my account and another $4 in my other half's, got a call from Market Force offering me a $25 mystery shop for today.

I even officiated for a season! Did the whole thing, got my USA Swim Stroke and Turn official certification.... but it was SO BORING I wanted to die! One season was enough of that for me! Our team(s) gave NO deals or discounts of any kind.... every parent was EXPECTED to volunteer in some capacity throughout the entire season. Again, you are SO LUCKY!

My money saver today..... I found a black ink cartridge that fits our printer on a local FB yard sale site that I check frequently. Meeting the woman tomorrow to give her $5 for a brand-new-in-package cartridge that goes for $15.99 at Staples! I was heading out tomorrow anyhow, so no extra gas spent.

This morning I took out two batches of ham broth from the freezer to make a big batch of split pea soup. The ham broth was free made with the ham bone from Christmas and last Easter (been in the freezer for a while). I bought the split peas a few weeks ago. The onions, celery, and carrots were bought in bulk. So that will make approximately 6 dinners/lunches for myself for just a few $$ and some time. DH is away for the next 24 hours, so this will be my treat for myself!

Also spent some time bumping up some stuff I have for sale online, hoping to attract a few buyers that I can meet tomorrow while I am out. And I may take some time to post a few more things for sale..............P

Does sewing curtains for the Dining room patio door count, if the fabric was free, but I had to buy a new rod and clips to hang them?

I did buy the cheapest rod I could and the cheapest clips.

It was not an necessity to replace the blinds but they were breaking, stained and hideous vertical blinds circa 1990 (came with the house when we moved in last year)

Total cost OOP under $25

Not something that will be there in 5 years but WAY less embarrassing than what was there!

Spent $2.82 at the grocery store but got $2 back on the ibotta app for it, did a $7 survey of the make up aisle on the Field Agent app and met someone in the parking lot to sell a shirt for $5. Why can't every trip to the grocery be like that?!?

I made coffee at work (we have a coffee club) instead of going out for some. I also packed my lunch and breakfast.

Tonight we'll be finding something in the freezer to eat, and hanging out watching Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune:rotfl:

Bought one of those school fundraiser discount cards that we use all over town. Today, used it to get 10% off my lunch. The $10 card has paid for itself many times over :thumbsup2
