How did you pick your wedding date?

We're trying to pick a wedding date since we're pretty flexible on when it could be. We were thinking perhaps September 2008 since I heard the crowds are a little lighter (since we plan to Disneymoon there ).

How did you pick your wedding date and what were the reasons? Weather, crowds, etc.

we are going with sep 2008! We picked it 1 its our anniversary and 2 its low season so its a bit less crowded

I'm teaching September - July and so August is the only free month for me when I can spend a whole month in WDW!

We tried to pick our date around school schedules for my SIL and the kids in the wedding. The kids still had to take time off of school. Also, it turned out it was Flower and Garden Festival. Since we had our ceremony outside at Epcot, that worked wonderfully for decorations that I did not have to pay for. All in all, it worked wonderful!!! Oh, I forgot, we did get married on a Thursday b/c of cost and us leaving for the cruise. Believe it or not, that was the thing that caused the most issue.

We chose 2nd week of May as we had vacationed at WDW the previous 2 years at the same time. We chose our exact date to co-incide with a Disney Cruise so that we could get married on the Thursday, have Friday with family and Friends and then join the Cruise on the Saturday - then we came back and spent another 6nights at The Beach Club although by now it was coming up for Memorial Weekend and getting a little busier I must say.

December-Christmas!

Really, I struggled with picking a date...we didn't have a "special" day that we had met or anything. We were engaged at Christmas so we didn't want that time of year for an anniversary. The more we thought about it, the September date just worked really well and we liked that we had something every quarter of the year

While it's hot and humid in Florida in September, the crowds are really light.

My birthday is the day after christmas, so something in the fall or spring was too close for me. Plus, I wanted so many of my cousins who were still in school to be at the wedding I needed to work around school schedules. The WP was under going a rehab during the month of July in 2004, so that left the end of June. We ended up with the 25th as that was the day that the times and venues we wanted were all available - plus its exactly 6 months till Christmas!

If it wasn't for the school issue though, I may have leaned more towards getting married during a season in FL that wasn't so hot - the heat index was 110 the day we got married.

We went with October 6 because the following Monday is Columbus day and is a holiday for federal workers and some other lucky people. That gives an extra day of WDW for people who don't have to be back at work until Tuesday.

Since we are FL residents, there are only a couple of months we would get married due to the heat here. I am a teacher, but I wanted a December wedding so I had to take advantage of our Winter Break and slightly cooler weather. DF and I were originally getting married in December 2008 until we heard about the price increase for 08 and moved it to 07. Since DFTW doesn't allow Escape weddings on Saturday, DF wanted either a Friday or Monday hoping it would be a little easier for guests to travel. We didn't want something too close to Christmas. Our time wasn't available on the Monday, so we got the Friday which is December 14. Which happens to be my 30th birthday... it just happened to work out that way, but DF will tell you differently.

I agree with JaxTeach, I'm a Florida resident as well, so I had to pick a time when it would be cool enough that I would want to be outside. We knew we wanted fall, I think we settled on October pretty quickly, because it's good weather during the day, but cool at night. Plus- what a great time at Disney! Not only do you have Not-So-Scary at MK, you have Food and Wine at Epcot! And since we had family coming in from AZ (DF's family), who normally don't come to DW, we wanted them to be impressed with the things going on. The normal question we get, since my DF picked the date, is "did you chose Halloween so you wouldn't forget your anniversary?" The answer is no! Halloween is our favorite Holiday, so we thought why not!

We chose the weekend before our dating anniversary in November and because the weather would be cooler.

We wanted May. We picked a week day because of cost. And then we choose the 19 because its a monday and a holiday for DF family that is coming form Canada. And for my side thats coming from Cal. the following monday after the wedding is memorial day. The 19th gave everyone a holiday so they could stay longer or not take as much vacation time.

We did choose May because its spring, not as busy in the parks and is not yet summer.

We chose February because we'd heard it's a great month for low crowds and good weather at WDW, and because we didn't want a long engagement. We picked President's Day because we thought the three-day weekend would help people with getting time off. But it turns out that the second half of February is actually Peak season at Disney, and nobody we've invited so far gets President's Day off.

Sigh.... It's too late to move the wedding up to Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and we don't want to go on Memorial Day, so we're sticking with President's Day

We chose the beginning of November because my husband and I both love the Fall...the colors of the trees, the warm fuzzy feelings of being with family...plus, we liked the idea of spending Thanksgiving at WDW.

I always wanted a fall wedding and we wanted it during the week to cut down on costs at Disney. I figured a Thursday was close enough to the weekend that people could meet us in Disney to celebrate after the wedding, which several were able to do.

For month and week: we chose Novemeber, the week of thanksgiving, because we thought it would be cooler and if people wanted to spend the week then they would most likely be getting Thursday and Friday off from work anyway. Plus I work in a a zoo that is busy when school is in session due to school trips, Thanksgiving week there is no school so I knew I wouldn't be stressing about what was happening at work while I was away.

For day of the week: We went with Monday because it was close to the weekend so for people who just wanted to make it a long weekend could and get home for Turkey day still could.

We chose December because at the beginning of the month the crowds are lighter and the Christmas decorations are up. It's my favorite time of year too.
