How did you pick your wedding date?

I'm another September '08 bride, there's so many of us! We were so sneaky with our date, we picked it to be during a time of year when vacations are cheap so we would always get cheap anniversary trips!! We thought about our favourite time of year at Disney and chose it so our anniversary trips would take us there for the F&W festival & halloween. Possibly too much forward planning there but it made sense to us and I love that time of year too.

We wanted to get married at Sunset Pointe after I graduate in December. Since Sunset Pointe is only available Oct - March, we were left with Jan - March. We originally were going to do March but then I realized it was peak season for the hotels so it was moved to the last Friday of Value Season so 2/8

We chose March '08 because of shool. My FMIL is a teacher and cannot take extra vacation time, plus we have 4 kids coming and i'd like them to miss the least amount of school as possible. So March seemed the best fit. And we went there last year at Easter and survived the crowds. So hopefully next year, we'll do the same!

If I truly had it my way and could pick any date, it would have been Christmas. It's my absolute favourite time of the year, but it just wouldn't have been feasible.

 We picked our anniversary weekend since it is early October and we usually go up to NH to see the fall foliage - and this year it is the Sunday of the long weekend. We ended up with Sat 10/6 because it is just easier to do a Sat wedding. Wedding on the 6th & 7th anniversay on the 7th!

We chose our date because it's a long weekend. We're actually getting married on Memorial Day. We were going to go with that Sunday, but Disney charges a higher minimum on holiday weekends. It's also a week after we graduate from dental and medical school. So #1 FFIL was planning on throwing us a huge party anyway, so now he's putting the money towards our wedding. #2 We know the majority of our friends won't have anything to do because they won't be able to practice for about 3 weeks after graduating.

We were concerned because we know the crowds are high that weekend. But we're going to try to plan lot's of different get togethers to avoid the crowds. And then there's the heat, so we're having a 9 AM ceremony at Epcot and then our reception at 6pm indoors. I'm sure you can tell we put a lot of thought into the date but when you've been engaged for 3.5 years what else are you going to do :lmao: HTH!

Joolish1313- Thank you so much! I see you're below the 2 month mark.. you mush be getting so excited!!! :goodvibes

We picked the weekend after Thanksgiving but my Uncle could not make it here because of his work so we just pushed it back a week.....luckily we had were a year in advance and had not started the heavy planning yet

We wanted a winter wedding, and opted not to do a December wedding as everyone is so busy with the holidays. So my DH picked January. I chose the 11th as we were doing the intimate wedding, so I picked the Thursday before MLK day so that I could have Friday with friends/family in the parks, and leave on our Disney Cruise on that Saturday. And after we picked that date, I figured it was perfect since DH couldn't possibly forget an anniversary that had all 1's in it! (1/11)! :rotfl:

We have finally officially decided to get married in Dec. DH and I are both Christmas nuts so we love that it will be decorated. Also both sets of parents are coming with us on vacation so we can surprise them and all our kids;) .

I initially wanted an October wedding in order to take advantage of the Food and Wine Festival (and get all those "Disney is for kids" naysayers to eat their words, literally :rolleyes1 ) and so that we wouldn't have to deal with intense heat.

Then, I realized that the July/August were the only months when a) I wouldn't have any trials scheduled and b) my guests who are teachers could come along, I decided to bite the bullet and go with a summer wedding.

Besides, when we finally get married, it's going to be on July 30, 2009... Our 12th Anniversary!! I figured that seeing as he already remembers that date, I wouldn't take my chances with trying to make him remember another one!!! :lmao:
