How did you meet your spouse?

Dh and I went to a birthday party for a 1 yr old. I was good friends with the baby's mom, and he with the dad. Well my dh is a tad shy so he didnt come over to speak to me that day--this was in July '94. But he kept asking my friend about me all the time. We finally met at their house in Feb '95 and we have been together ever since. He is a great step dad to my 2 oldest, 16 and 14, and a great dad our baby boys, 2 and 4.

These are great stories guys and gals! I love reading them! Keep 'em coming!

outstandinfarmer: Thanks! That is really sweet of you! :wave2: The truth is, I couldn't live without him either, but I wasn't ready to leave my family. I still can't believe that he up and left his family (including 8 siblings), friends, home and everything he knew to be with me just after a few months of knowing me. He is a good man. I have been blessed. ::yes::

Mine is probably more run of the mill, but oh well. We met in law school...both of us were coming out of failed relationships and became friends. I had a master plan all worked out though, because he was very laid back...I played it all cool, but I reeled him in at the law prom (not really a prom, just a spring dance). Eight months mater he was picking out rings, 1 year and two months later we were engaged.

I considered that to be quite excellent, seeing as he was only 24 when we met :teeth:

We met through the AOL personals! I had met a LOT of duds in WA state that way. I was thinking of moving to Biloxi to be with my sister and decided to change my profile to men in that area just to see what popped up. He was the first reply I got from that area and one of only 2 that I actually met. We IM'd for a while, exchanged phone numbers and 6 months later I moved there. We had lunch the day after I arrived but I KNEW long before I ever got there. Everyone said I was nuts when I said I had a boyfriend online. We met in September, moved in together in December, got engaged in March and were married in September 2001. 2.5 years of marriage and we're still madly in love. I highly recommend the online personals to single disers!!

We met at a party in college. He said that the first time he saw me he knew I was going to be his girlfriend. I can't say the same, since I didn't have contacts yet, and I wasn't about to wear my geeky glasses to a party, so all I saw was a blur and heard a voice.

I met DH in 1993. We were both in highschool...he was a senior and I was a sophomore. I was actually dating his friend at the time...things didn't work out with that. In February 1994 I asked DH to our Sadie Hawkins Dance...we've been together ever since. :) We did go to different colleges (about 3 hours apart) and things were hard during that time. We eventually married in 2000.

Well my grandparents, my parents and I all have completely different stories.

My grandparents met on a blind date and my parents met at a bowling league for their work (which is maybe why I like bowling so much!)

It's kinda weird how my boyfriend and I got together. September 2001 we both started in the same psychology class. I was a senior and he was a junior. I was the quiet girl who sat in front of the class and he sat in the back, and we never once talked to each other.

When that school year was over, I started hanging out with this kid in one of my classes. In July he introduced me to some of his friends (who were also friends with my boyfriend, which I didn't know at the time). I liked one of his friends and he liked me, so we started hanging out. In September of 2002, I was hanging out with this kid that I liked and a few of his friends, my boyfriend being one of them. We both looked at each other and were like "I know you, you were in my psychology class." We didn't really talk much besides that. I never dated this kid that I liked, and sorta stopped seeing him sometime in the fall, so I never really saw Steve much after that.

That school year he was a senior and my sister was a sophomore. Sometimes they would talk to each other in school. In one of her classes, my sister would talk to these girls about this kid that she thought was cute. Finally she said who the kid was and one of her new friends was like "that's my brother!" So Lindsay ended up becoming really good friends with this girl (Lisa). When Lindsay had her sweet 16 party in April of 2003, she decided to invite Steve, my boyfriend, because she knew him from the summer and talked to him in school sometimes, and because it was her friends brother. At the party we started talking a lot and were interested in each other. Almost everyone at the party (including my mom, my sister and his sister) kept telling me how cute we looked together. We started hanging out all the time and our sisters were talking a lot about the wedding and how they would be bridesmaids. We thought it was silly, especially when they would talk about how we were soulmates. But anyways we made it official in May, and it seems like everything our sisters said were right on! :D

Met my DH cruising back in December 1983. My friend and I were underage (17) and looking for someone to buy us beer. He looked old enough so we stopped and asked him if he would. Didn't know he was only 19! But he came through for us...we went to a local park to hang out (about 6 of us). I just remember he was so darn cute :teeth: We dated for 3 years or so - married in 1987. Will have our 17th anniversary in August.

Boston.com/personals...

He instant messaged me on August 8, 2002 after I had posted my personal that afternoon... we talked for a week on IM and on the phone. He drove from Boston to the Cape to meet me at the Mall (you know somewhere public, right?). We talked everyday for hours and just knew we'd be together forever by October.....

We moved in together in MA in July 2003, moved to Indy together in Jan. 2004 and are getting married in October 2004!!!

He truly is my other half.... I was wondering where that was before I met him! :)

Shopping :teeth:

He worked in the store I was in, and he was scoping me out  And here we are, happily ever after ;)

We met at a mutuak friends High School graduation....she was 18, I was 19.....3 months later, we got married.............October will be 23 yrs!::yes::

I met my wife while out at the bar drinking I was introduced to her by a friend of mine who also knew her. And one thing led to another and voila here we are almost 10 years later. We met on Nov 11 95 and had our first child on Sept 22nd of 96 got married on Feb 14th 98.

i met matthew in 1988. we met briefly at a church function one night. we flirted a bit but that was about it...

fast forward a few weeks...found out he worked at a taco place in the mall. my best friend and i would hang out in the food court so that we could flirt. i went up and ordered a dr pepper from him. i went back to my seat along with my best friend and took a drink...there was hot sauce in it!! i went back up to the counter to ask for another one...he had put the hot sauce in my drink hoping that i would come back up without my friend so he could talk to me...he asked for my number and the rest is history!

we took a 10 year hiatus from each other and have now been back together for 3 years...married for 2!

I met Jim in the Breezeway at the University of Miami waiting for Carni Gras booths. Our organizations were sitting next to each other. He protected me from my organizations president who thought it was funny to stick a snake in my face. I WAS VERY TERRIFIED OF ANY SNAKE THEN. Can tolerate them now but don't like them.

I hated dating...swore off men forever...bought a house...

Got set up on a blind date by my mortgage loan officer...this person wouldn't take no for an answer. I didn't want to do this date. I was so sure that I was going to have a lousy time that I would only go out with him on a Thursday night. (Heh - why waste a weekend on a blind date!)

I went...I had fun...He proposed less than 3 months later...We've been married 14 years now.:bride: :groom:

AOL in a chat room . We met in a Firefighters/Police Officers chat room . I was dating a Police officer and we would hop in there and chat . I would chat with DH all the time and we became friends. one thing led to another and we will be married for 5 years this summer :teeth:

I worked at a local grocery store while in college. Otto came in to buy lots of Wine Coolers (this was the day before they became a nickel deposit item) for a Fire Department party, and went through my line. My comment to him "Wow, you look just like my ex boyfriend." (STUPID ME! Not the way to attract someone!)
He left the next day for Tech School, but when he came back home he returned to the store looking for me... started dating in February 91, married in November and have been together 13 years now, with 2 great kids. He is the most wonderful man in the world, and I adore him. I am so blessed.

BTW, he is MUCH better looking than the ex! :D

Well I met mine DH in a bar the Weds before Thanksgiving. You know the kind of dance bar where it is so dark except on the dance floor. In fact I could not remember what he looked like and had to ask my girlfriends for help identifying him when he showed up that Sat again at our bar. He then asked me out and even though I was unsure about how wise that was I agreed and gave him my phone and house address.

Well would'nt you know I got the flu the day of our first date. Did not have his # or know his address to look it up. Was too embrassed to call off the date when he showed. So I dressed took medications and struggled thru our date. He was trying so hard to impress me. Took me to a real nice restuarant, then the movies. Usually I enjoy eating, but all the food was doing a number on me. Bet he thought I was easy on the budget. LOL. Well after more than a few trips to the ladies room, at both the rest. and theatre I told him how sick I was. He offered to take me home. Well I thought, that was that. Did not make the best impression there.

Well the following day he called me to check how I was feeling, and we agreed to meet at the bar the following weekend and start over. Well needless to say we will be celebrating our 24th anniversary this September. He is the love of my life,. Guess my mom was right what is meant to be will happen. ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

I love these stories!

DH and I went to the same High school but I never met him ( he was really shy, and I am not) anyhow...In senior year we were both cast in a play as husband and wife! Weird, huh! He said he has see me in other plays and loved me from afar for years! The rest is history.

That was the "Fall" play and by "Spring" musical we were expecting DS..oops! Talk about method acting! LOL! Lots of hardship and tears but it all worked out for the best.

Been together since Oct of 1990 and 10 years of married life his year.

These stories are making me teary eyed!!!

DH and I met at college in New Jersey. We were both commuters, and discovered we lived close to each other. We started carpooling. That was in Sept. 1988. At the time we were both involved with someone else. After a year, we both found ourselves available and together. We waited until one of us graduated college before we got married. We were finally married five years after we met in May 1993 and just celebrated our 11th anniversary.
