Awww, what a lovely thread.
Apparently I met Jack on my first day at Uni (although I can't remember if I did), we lived in the same Halls, him on the floor below me. The first memory I have of him was on the 3rd or 4th night of Uni when all the girls from my floor went our with the boys from the floor below, and he was drunk and singing a killers song very wierdly. To be honest I found him pretty odd!
The first thing he says we ever said to each other (and I don't remember this either - how bad am I?!) is I asked him where he was from and he said 'London', so I asked where in London and he said 'Buckinghamshire', so I drunkly shouted at him "That aint London!" (I grew up in SE London and went to Uni in Wales, where most people thought people that talk like me were made up in Eastenders!)
A few weeks into our first term he started to really fancy me and badgered me ALL THE TIME, and tried to get my friends to get me to like him back. etc. But I had had a boyfriend (also Jack) in 6th form and wanted some fun single time. He still didn't back off though, but we were great friends and always hung out together.
That summer I was away in Chicago and Wisconsin and surprised myself by missing him more than my other friends and was really pleased to see him at the start of the second year. We were going out by about 4 weeks into term, I think he was kind of confused by my change of heart, but I guess that's how it goes!
We had a break over the following summer as he went travelling around Europe and I was away for a few months in Los Angeles, and we both thought we didn't want a full on relationship, but as soon as we got back to Uni in the third year we were inseparable - turns out all our friends had had bets on us getting back together!
When we left Uni we did a London/Bucks long distance relationship for about a year, then he moved in with me and my parents for a year, and then last november we got our own place and he propsed in DLRP last January.
I miss him even if we're apart for an hour (we work together now) and can't imagine a day without him.
We're getting married in..(please see my ticker) and I can't wait to spend at least the next 60 years with him.
