I've read several reports that most of you have booked a standard view room and have been "upgraded" to a garden view...

I was just curious if you faxed a view request....or just asked at check in....

any help would be great...

We were actually upgraded to a waterview room while paying the standard room price. I looked at the layout of the Yacht Club on the YC strand here on the DIS. There were a few rooms that were overlooking the gazebo that were considered standard view room. I faxed a request to the room assigner for a room overlooking the gazebo. When we got there we found out our room not only overlooked the gazebo it also looked out over the water you could see boardwalk and the eiffel tower in France. It was a great room. Good luck

Hi - I thought a YC standard view room WAS a garden view?

The choices on Disney's website are Standard view, Waterview, Concierge Lagoon view or Concierge Garden View.

I just assumed all standard views were garden views? with a parking lot thrown in here or there :)

>>^..^<<

for the price you pay...you would think they were all garden...but when looking at exterior photos...sure enough...several rooms had a view of the main entrance and parking lot...:(
I'd prefer a view of the gardens...so I'll fax a request...

I'm staying concierge waterview- is that of the lagoon? Does the concierge person help with your hotel view or is that strictly up to the room controller person? We have never been to YC before. We will be there next April. Also, is there a room to see fireworks from that is close to concierge lounge and the pool? How much farther is the walk in comparism with the BC to epcot? thanks much:)

Standard is either parking lot or garden. Waterview can be pool or lake. When we stayed at Beach Club, we were above the valet parking dropoff area on the fifth floor (was standard then, now I think it's conceirge). I was disappointed at first but it turned out to be great - we could see Spaceship Earth and you could hear the music from Illuminations and a little bit of the fireworks.

You can place on your request "garden view, lake side". There are garden view rooms that overlook, I believe, a tennis court. Some of the lake side/garden view rooms overlook the gazebo and some, I believe, overlook the exit from the resort's lobby (trees in front).

We had standard rooms and they were first floor near the gazebo. Rooms 1085, 1087 and 1089...Nice location for my money. We had an exit just down the hall that led directly to the boardwalk. Three weddings took place at the gazebo while we were there including one where the bride was brought in a carriage drawn by white miniature horses...

The rooms had shrubbery between the patio and the garden area, while some further down the hall could walk directly off there patio and walk to the boardwalk--those would be lower room numbers..say 1079, 1077 etc..
