How did you get your dress there?

I've seen people bring them on air carryon luggage that is hung where the fligt attendents hang their/1st class passangers coats. My dress was driven down with my parents but my bridal party brought there's as carryon and it was hung in the closet like I mentioned before. It was very nice of the flight crew. I would call your airline and see what they recommend. If you do pack it in the overhead bin I would make sure that it is able to be steamed well after being folded for so long. Like others have mentioned, sending it via UPS to the seam stress might be a good way to go.

I had the same concern also being from the UK i would not be able to afford a flight! I have spoken to Virgin Atlantic and they advised me that i can take it on as hand luggage as long as its within their limits. You can check on the website of the airline that you are flying! I havent found my dress yet though lol.

Hi, I'm a UK October 2006 bride too (18th @2pm).

I've got my dress and think I'm gonna go with the hard case option. People suggested carrying it and trying it with the desk staff but I don't want to take the risk. It's bad enough we may op for connecting flights for extra luggage allowance and cheaper fare then it would have to go on 2 planes! If only h2b would take the hint about first class...

I had the same problems with handling how to get my dress down to Disney for our August 2006 wedding. My options were as follows: I could A) ship it down to Disney for about 50-60 dollars, NOT including the insurance that I would have to pay (just incase!) so I was looking into about 100.00 to ship it, or B) buy my dress its own ticket on the plane.

After much consideration, and looking for the BEST airline deal, we ended up getting our disney plane tickets from Delta for about 180 round trip, Boston to Orlando. So for about 90 dollars, I bought my dress a one-way ticket, and it will be flying right beside me. I get the window (Fiance is a bad flyer and cant handle the view), Mark gets the middle, and the good ole princess wedding dress gets the aisle A perfect traveling companion. This was the perfect option for me, and I didnt mind the price for the ticket (it was worth it to not have my dream dress leave my hands) But please know that shipping is definatly an option, so don't stress if the plane ticket is too much. My father works for FEDEX and he assures that wedding dresses are shipped ALL THE TIME! So either way, your fairytale dress will arrive No worries!!! Hope this helps!

Who are you flying with? I think you are more likley to be able to take it on the plane if you are flying with Virgin or BA. I'd imagine charter airlines would be more strict.
I have seen a few brides on Virgin with dresses and i've seen the flight attendant hang them up in the closet. I'm planning on taking mine on with me, that baby's not leaving my site!! LOL.

I havent bought it yet. I see one i loved at the weekend but its the first shop ive been to so i want to look round first but i expect i will buy this one but it is big and really heavey.
