How did you get on when you took your Driving Test?

Have you got any funny stories to share? Did you pass first time or did it take you a few more attempts?

No stories from me but I did pass first time!

No interesting stories for me. But I did pass on my first attempt. I did have an interesting encounter during that 4 hour class they make you sit through. When I was in 3rd grade we had an exchange student in my class named Eva, she was from Switzerland. After that year she went back home. I guess she came back because 8 years later she was sitting next to me in the class. Nothing really strange, it was just interesting to talk to her after all those years.

I got my license on the first try, but I'm really not sure about passing the test. There was another girl taking her driving test across the driving area from me, and she jumped a guard rail with her car and ran into a lake! My examiner told me to stop, and ran to help the other two peole before the car went under, and left me sitting there. When I went in the building later, she said I was fine, and signed my forms anyway!! I think she was just scared to ride with anyone, after seeing that other car!

I failed my first driving test. I didn't take driver's training. I just went for the test when I turned 18. I nearly caused an accident and gave the DMV lady a heart attack! I "thought" I had the right of way and pulled out in front of another car.

No interesting stories here either. I passed both written and driving on the first time. I did feel so bad though while watching someone take the driving test. They were doing the parking portion in a conversion van and was so close... unfortunately they hit a cone (trust me, this parking test is harder than parallel parking) and so they automatically failed A friend of mine failed because she almost hit a kid playing in the street Granted the kid darted but my friend freaked and they thought she wasn't ready for it yet.

Passed the driving test first time around, 100% on written test.
I took drivers ed but didnt really need it, it was just my parents 'conditions' of getting a license. The Driver Ed company owner just sat back & let me drive around ...and offered me a job, LOL

First time.

I would have had a pefect score but when I got ready to leave the test center and pull onto the main road, I noticed the tester was still filling out the paperwork. I waited and looked in both directions about three or four times. Finally I figured "he has to have seen me look both ways by now" so I pulled out into traffic. When we got back to the testing center, he told me that I only had one bad mark. He said I didn't look both ways when I pulled out onto the main road at the beginning of the test. I was a bit mad and wanted to tell him that I did but he wasn't paying attention, but I was so happy to have passed I didn't want to do anything to mess it up

I passed the written test on the first try.

I had to take the driving test a second time. I, um, went to park the car, I hit a parked police car. They told me they couldn't pass me because of that teeny tiny infraction. I passed it the 2nd time though.

My friend is a DMV driver examiner.. yes the guy you ride along wiht in the car.... he can tell you many stories...


Like stuff like failing a teenager, but having the parents attempt to bribe him.. , having parents yell, elderly that can't see, and well local celebrities trying to get special treatment.

I failed my first attempt in high school because I got flustered with the instructor and his orders (which I guess is part of his job). Didn't care much and never took it again until 10 years later. Luckly I had lots of friends who loved to drive and I took public transportation to work (much easier and cheaper than driving into the city).

I'm a late bloomer I guess. Still don't love driving - I let DH do it when we are together.

[color=0066ff]I passed on my first time. I was lucky because the place I took it has a special test course behind the building. So I didn't have to take the test out on the main roads and highways. And in Florida it's not required that you learn how to parallel park which was a big relief to me.[/color]

I got 100% on my written, and passed the road test on the first try, 3 days after my 16th Birthday (16 is the minimum here).

I took drivers ed through a private company rather than through the school....And they had 2 written exams and I aced them both....first time in the history of the school!!! I was sort of embarrassed, since the instructor announced it to the whole class.

I passed the driving part with flying colors too......first try

passed written first time, driving test second time. the first time people were walking along side of road and then stepped out in the street right in front of me. i failed because people have the right away and i didn't stop to let them go. fortunately i didn't hit them. i can't read stupid people's minds.

I passed the written and driving test on the first try. I took the written test when I was 15 and took my driving test when I was 22. I was a late bloomer, I guess. Driving scared me so I just renewed my permit until I was going to graduate from college.

Guess I thought I couldn't ride my bike to interviews. But it would be better than to wear a shocking pink mini and a huge bow in my hair. LOL!

i passed my first time, though I still can't believe the officer passed me. It was many yrs ago. The turn signal stick fell right off in my hand when I went to signal a turn! I calmly, (figured I was going to fail, so I was no longer nervous), rolled down my window, and stuck my hand out to signal my turn. That impressed the officer, he said if that happened to most people, they would have just given up and not used a signal at all!
