i am staying at the ramada inn maingate resort and was wondering what is the cheapest and/or best way to get around to disney and universal.

get a rental car is definitely the fastest and easiest.

there are 2 bus lines in Orlando - Lynx and I-trolley - the only one even near you is Lynx.

but crossing over US 192 is not a good choice.

however I would ask at the front desk - call the resort and ask about their shuttles - be prepared for long waits and it comes on its schedule not yours - if you miss it be prepared to pay for a taxis.

I would highly encourage you to get a rental car. It will give you tons of freedom and be less stressful for your stay.

yes, i agree rental car is the way to go, this was my first time off property and renting a car, i was scared i mean really scared because i am a landmark driver, but i went to disney, seaworld and universal and did not get lost once,

I would also recommend a rental car. I've stayed offsite before and have found myself at the mercy of the hotel shuttles. There is nothing worse than being dead on your feet and having to wait a couple of hours until the shuttle arrives.

I suggest joining the Emerald Club through National Car- check the transport boards for tips. I saved a LOT of money. For $115 I rented a car for 6 days with the discount codes I was able to find.

Not all car rental agencies have an airport location and require you to take a shuttle to their location. National was very close and we got to pick our own car, we were out of the airport in under 30 minutes, took us more time to get luggage than to get our car.

We stayed on WDW property, but it was great to have a car- especially when I got so sick my husband had to rush me to the hospital. it was also nice when he wanted to go to a couple parks, carry the cell phone and be available to come back to the room quickly if I needed him.

He carried a Ipac/GPS with him and marked where the car was in the PK- made it a breeze to navigate finding the car, getting to different parks or anywhere off property.

Check out the transport boards.

If you want to stay on property there are different options besides MEARS for getting to and from the resort.

happy vacationing!
