Ok gang. I'm getting down to the nitty gritty now, and am so excited, I can hardly contain myself.

How did you feel when you finally, finally, FINALLY got to walk onto the ship? All of those days, months, weeks...sometimes YEARS of planning is finally over, and they announced your name over the microphone.

Just curious about some of the fellow DIS'ers answers :)

Oh my heart races and my palms sweat. I get all worked up like a little kid. I am running around the port getting pictures and then I want that just perfect boarding photo. Please kids all smile!!! What sailing on you on - we leave on October 19th?

and I am not over exaggerating when I say this. I couldn't believe it. I was in awe just driving up to the port. You are in for the time of your lives!!!
Have a wonderful trip!!

Karen,

I'm going on the October 23rd sailing....I get that silly one extra hour on the ship Sunday morning due to it switching back to daylight savings time!! :) Hehehehe :)

The amazing thing is, each time you board the ship for another cruise, the feelings are even more MAGICal and WONDERful.

We took our first cruise July 2002 with several friends....we had to take 2 cars down. In 1 car, we had 2 husbands in the front, and 2 wives in the back. I'm still not sure that my husband's eardrums have recovered....as soon as we came across the causeway, and we got our first glimpse of the ship, we burst into earshattering squeals....mind you we are both teachers, and often remind our children not to do this! I think that the people driving by us might have even heard us! If they didn't, they might have thought that the truck was on hydraulics b/c we were bouncing up and down so much! Fortunately, I was not disappointed. All the months of anticipation were worth every second once we walked onto the boat and were announced. I can't even begin to describe it, except to say that I wasn't sure my skin was going to be able to contain me. It was the same way on our second cruise this past January, only this time I got to see it through my children's eyes (9,6,and 3). I can't wait to do it again. In fact, sometimes when I think about it, and that it's still 280+ days, I feel so sad inside, and am not sure I can wait. But, of course I don't have a choice. As a teacher i don't make enough money to support my "travel habit"

I can't wait to see the ship for the first time and I still have over one year to go!!!

Enjoy and have the times of your lives!!!

:boat: :firefight

How often do you get to be a "Star":smooth: . Well when they announce your name as you step into the atrium - there are all sorts of people standing around and applauding for you:wave2: . Look up to the 5th floor railing and there's Mickey ::MickeyMo applauding for you too. It's quite the feeling. I know that I have the Biggest, Cheesiest:teeth: :sunny: :teeth: smile on my face. Heck the smile might be bigger than my face, and you think - "This is Way Cool":hyper:

Enjoy the moment for a short while, then join the ressie rush and off to lunch and it is a great start to the day (even though it's noon)

I don't know, but will find out in 2 DAYS!!!!! First time cruise ever and I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Like I have been transported back in time to when the world was safe and innocent.. I can leave all my worries and stress and when I step on board for one week my life is true bliss........... I absolutely can not wait for it this year......the best feeling in the world.........

when i finally board the ship i get such an overwhelming feeling of joy, happiness, just plain awe that i made it back, i'm in never never land and i don't want to grow up, its just a wonerfull, magical feeling.

The first time in October of 1999 I was in awe. It was a 3 day cruise and I was just blown away by how beautiful everything was!

The second time in May of 2001 it was for a 7 day and it felt Magical but at the same time so much more relaxing. We already knew our way around and we had 7 days to enjoy. Heaven!

The third time in May of 2002 was for a 4 day Wonder cruise. On this one I was filled with curiosity on how it would compare to the Magic. I wasn't disappointed as it was WONDERful.

The fourth time was for the DVC Member cruise in Feb. of this year. This had a very special feel to it as we were sailing with all DVC members and lots of friends we had made on these boards. Words cannot describe how wonderful it was. From the WELCOME HOME we received everywhere to the great people we met. To me it is what DVC is all about.

Our last cruise was in May of this year we again like we were coming home. I was looking forward to a wonderful week of relaxation and fun and I wasn't disappointed. We were blessed with beautiful weather, very smooth seas and it was great visiting the Western ports.

Next cruise for us will be the 2004 10 day holiday cruise. I think I will be walking on full of anticipation for a very unique experience. It will be the first time we've ever celebrated Christmas away from home, but I think it will be worth it.

So you can see that I find each sailing to have its own Magic and Wonder! ::MickeyMo

When we stepped onboard, DH and DS ran ahead in their excitement. I was carrying DD, who was 5 months old at the time, in a sling, pushing an umbrella stroller loaded with our carry-ons. The CM asked for our family name and announced it as I walked in. I hope I can describe this so you can understand. It was like I was in slow motion, but everything around me was whirling by. I was absolutely in awe of how beautiful it is. The CMs were all lined up and clapping. One CM was walking alongside me, explaining something about where to go for lunch. I was trying to listen to her, but was looking all around. The atrium is just overwhelming. It was like a scene out of a movie, where the camera is slowly panning in a circle and there is buzzing activity everywhere. This is actually my most vivid memory from our cruise. I can close my eyes and picture it perfectly. I can't wait to go on another DCL cruise, but I know that first moment will never be quite the same.

We had the plane ride from Hades and were just so glad to get on the ship that we could have all fallen down on the ground and kissed it.

There is nothing to compare to the feeling of getting on the ship - we have multiple cruises but each time it's the "Picture" then the "Announcement" that really makes us feel "home again".

I think that the most significant event is the horn at the Sail Away - that says it all!

Rae

That horn makes me feel like such a sap.. I get teary eyed and nostalgic.......

Is that pre-wine or post-wine?

TEE HEE HEE!

My son says he likes it best when we get into "our" room because that feels like HOME to him! Tom says it's when he watchs me with my shrimp and orange mango soup - darling man!
Mom says it's just the whole experience of going through the door and seeing all the people, Mickey waving and feeling the excitement.
