No C-sections for me. Both were "va-J-J". But the 2nd should had been a C section.

First one was a breeze. 2nd was horrible. I had minor labor pains for a month and had to go to to the hospital once a week for monitoring. The Dr. would just keep sending me home.

DS was 9 lbs. 7 oz. and I had a hard time delivering. By the time the Dr. thought a C-section would be best it was too late. They had to break his arm to get him out, the cord wrapped around his neck, he wasn't breathing and he was blue. They had to resuscitate him and he spent 1 and a half days in ICU. They didn't know if he would have use of his arm later. They didn't know if the lack of oxygen would have an effect on him later.

Due to the broken arm, and how big he was, I could only hold him one way in my arms. This and a combination of craniosynostosis, he had to have reconstructive skull surgery at 18 months old.

It was rough and how I wish my Dr. would had given me the C-section.

Two "natural" births (one w/o an epidural - waited too long to go to hospital for 2nd DS).

3rd son transverse breech @ end of pregnancy. Was scheduled for elective C section but, he had other plans & became an emergency situation early that a.m. Couple scary moments but, we were blessed w/another healthy son.:cool1:

Will say, C sections are not all they're cracked up to be...IMO, I'd never have one purely for convenience sake.

My mom had my older sister naturally and me through C-section.

3 c-sections

1st was emergency C...baby couldn't get past my pelvis and his heart rate was going down, so they took him that way. He was born with pneumonia, since they broke my water the night before and thought he would advance, but apparently I had a uterine infection they didn't know about and the fluid went into his lungs and he was pretty sick when he was born, but got better rapidly and went home with me 3 days later.

2 and 3 were planned Csections. #2 was smooth, #3 was not fun at all. The doctor couldn't get the epdiural in and after 15 attempts into my back decided on a spinal block. After 13 attempts he gave up and they knocked me out completely.
I am overweight and sure that had something to do with it, but SHEESH!!!!! It was a ridiculous experience.
and I was not happy that I didn't get to see my baby being born,
but thankfully, it's over and all 3 of my kids are healthy!

my second was call a v-bac ( vag birth after c-section) :thumbsup2

I have one child- they did a c-section after 27 hours of labor and no baby. Hmmm...maybe it's time to do one....

1989...we knew she was dead, so after the dumb nurse finally read the chart they gave me Demerol as the doctor promised. Fast forward 14 months...DS...natural other than something called Staydol ???...not a pain killer, just supposed to help you forget, this, after 2 days of induced labor...and DS was 11'4"...oh yeah, what a party...the doctor kept saying "That is a big baby !"...you think ? Another doctor came in the next day, couldn't beleive I'd delivered w/o a C-section...

Sounds like me. 30 hours of labor, blood pressure steadily rising and NOTHING. I was ready to cut my leg off and pull the baby out that way by the time they decided to do a C-section.

2 kids - no C section.

1st labor was long and hard. 2nd one was painless and easy - not a single labor pain but I demanded the epidural when I hit 5cm anyway!

My delivery was very easy, I was very lucky! I went into the hospital and when the dr examined me I was 10 cent dilated! He said I was actually sitting on my DD on the way to the hospital! No time for IV or anything, my husband had to move the car from emergency and was afraid he would miss it!

4 sections. It all started 20 years ago with my largest DS, being 10lbs 5oz and 3 weeks late and no labor :sad2: they decided to take him. 2 more DS's each over the 9lb mark, then 14lbs of twins! (6lb120z, & 7lb4oz) So apparently I cant quite squeeze em!

Planned V - was able to deliver V

Prepared using the Bradley Method and was able to give birth without any pain meds. Was induced due to a form of pre-eclampsia called HELLP syndrome 2 days before actual due date.

1st one was a c- section after 48 hours of labor, Next 3 all VBAC's. No drugs. :cool1: felt much better after those. :cool1:

Can't say I'm surprised by these results. I keep hearing only 1 in 4 are C's but it seems closer to 1/3 to 1/2 based on women I know. It also seems the avg weight should be going up since so many are having really big (9+lbs) babies.

Don't you just love it? A c-section! What a brilliant idea! I wish I would've suggested that! LOL

I used the Bradley Method for all three labors as well, with one exception--when I actually went into labor, I didn't want DH anywhere near me! I did the deep breathing, etc. and made it through without any meds (I fell asleep for part of my first labor!) but DH was forced to sit in a chair in the corner and not touch me or speak to me during contractions. I remember during my second labor, I felt a contraction coming on strong and cut him off mid-conversation, telling him to "Shut UP!" :furious:

Not exactly what we had envisioned during all those Bradley classes when he practiced massaging my back and whispering all those tender encouragements!

2 kids, delivered both without c-section.

Both of my boys were born after about 5-6 hours of labor.

When I tell this story, I add it to my list of reasons you shouldn't have a child under 20 :rotfl2: All my colleagues seem to get a kick out of my list.

When I went into labor with DD it was 3 weeks early and it didn't feel to me like what I thought labor should feel like (I was thinking excritiating pain) all it felt like to me was the normal cramps I got every month when I had my period. So, I called my mom who was working until 11, told her I thought I was having some braxton hicks and I was just going to take a bath and rest. So I took a bath climbed into bed and fell asleep. My mom told me she checked in on me when I was sleeping and I looked completely content so she didn't have any worries.

The next morning I woke up early from sharp shooting pains, called my mom in and the next thing you know DD was crowning. So she called the paramedics and with their instructions delievered DD. So, she came totally natural, no drugs (although I would have definenently had them if I had delievered the normal way)

My poor DH at the time was in apprentiship class during the day and worked at a restaraunt at night so we literally called my MIL the next morning and told her that she was a GM and then she drove and got my DH.

It's funny b/c we were just talking about it the other day and DH says he would have been quite content sitting in the waiting room :rotfl2: good thing, I don't plan on anymore b/c he would be having a rude awakening :rolleyes1
