SORRY FIRST TIME WITH A POLL

START OVER

We purchased DVC sight unseen. Though that is somewhat of a misnomer since we bought at VWL after staying a WL a few times. So even though we didn't see the villas, we knew what the place was like, the ambience, etc.

We saw some pictures on this site and elsewhere and it confirmed that the charm and beauty of WL had been carried through to VWL, so it was an easy sell for Disney!

We stayed at BWV on our second DVC trip, and staying there (and needing more points anyway) convinced us to buy a second contract. So for that contract, I'd have to say we would be #3-- "After Visiting Wdw On Your Own".

Since the poll allows only one choice, I put in the answer for our original contract.

#3
We split a trip between POR and the Swan and liked the area around DTD (POR/OKW/SSR) better so we decided to purchase there!

We went to WDW and never saw DVC when we got home we found these boards and joined number 4 poll

if anybody is interested here is my stroy on buying DVC.

Last Aug we saw timeshares at the Marriott and Star Island, we decied to also check DVC after going to DTD.

the Marriott offered us an extra 90000 pts,
Star Island offered us 5000.00 off
disney offered us nothing, i quote 'we are disney we do not have to offer
anything extra'

after a few hours of my wife and i thinking it over , we went back and puchased at SSR, i could not argue with what the CM said
they are disney and nothign would bet being on site.

our first trip home is 08/12

bought site unseen at the BWV in October. I had been to disney numerous times so I knew what to expect. I am very happy with my choice.

What we did was not a choice! We rented a 1 BR from CRO because they were not selling points yet. WL was also our favorite WDW location but there was no way we were going to plunk down that amount of money without staying there first. And to this date it is still the most money we ever spent on a hotel room!

We rented 4 times from the same member. I decided that if I was going so often that it would be best to buy in. I liked BWV the best that's why I bought there.

Purchased SSR without seeing it! (I did take a tour 3 years ago on my honeymoon, I think it was the BWV.)

We were real risk takers! #1 all the way! It could have been a really really bad move... but it wasn't. Enjoy our DVC and could currently sell BCV easily if it had been.

Sight unseen. I normally hung out on the budget board. One day I ventured over here and never left.
BCV was selling out quickly and I was sure that pool was the only thing that made me want to stay onsite. We put our deposit down and before closing on BCV, DVC opened up SSR presales. We added a small SSR contract onto our BCV and have been adding on ever since.

Purchased on-site the 1st week of June, 1993. Actually made our first reservation at the time we purchased (for that same night). Two hours later, we were checked into the villa, Disney Vacation Club 1-B/R (Since renamed to OKW).

Purchased on-site the 1st week of June, 1993 - apparently right after Caskbill. We already knew about DVC from friends who had just purchased and we had already made the decision to purchase. We walked into the Commodore House and asked what we needed to do to make the purchase and they were able to find a guide who wasn't busy to assist us. :teeth:

We added on before our first DVC stay 4 months later ... and then added on another 7 times over the next 5 years including 3 resale purchases.

We were on our 6th trip to WDW and although we did see the kiosk's, we were NEVER interested in timeshares so we ignored them.......Then my hubby's sneakers had this big hole where his big toe was, so off we went to DTD (now this was 1993 and there weren't many shops there at the time, let alone sneakers), but as luck would have it, we found a pair for him. We were then wondering around and he got nosey and went to a kiosk!!! We took the tour (OKW, the first and only one) and we were absolutely hooked, but we were also very confused as to how the points worked. We did not buy immediately but took about 2 months to make the decision. Best thing we ever did....we have had add on itis many times and the vacations we have had there are priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our children grew up there and they are now 26 and 28 and they visit WDW at least once a year. Our son has moved to Tampa and OKW is like his second home.

I first brought in 1992 - got talked out of that one - BIG mistake on my part.

joined again in 1993 when they changed the rules - it was 230 points you had to buy - they went down to 190 points - but went up in price.

dearly love it still!!!

Disney is pretty wonderful!

We stayed onsite a couple of times, then once offsite. I had looked at BWV when they opened, but husband wasn't all that into it. After going back 2 more times, and especially after staying offsite - he was ready to buy. We did the tour of BW again and bought in - no regrets, except that I wish I was going to be there before the end of the year!

Years ago,I spoke to a guide about DVC but decided not to buy. Last year, I went to DTD and decided to take a look at the area of SSR, then to OKW, then I took a bus to the BW area. That's when I knew that I had to own at BWV (although I did also like the looks/area of BCV.)... The boardwalk area more so than the fact that BWV is so close to our favorite park (EPCOT) is the reason why I had to have BWV.
