How did you arrive at V&A? Did you drive your car, take a bus, monorail, etc. DH wants to just take a bus, but I told him I'd feel silly in my cocktail dress on one of the buses! lol

Took a bus to magic kingdom and the monorail to Grand floridian, why worry about looking silly its not like you are likely to meet your fellow passengers again.

It depends on if you have a car there or not. If I had a car I would drive there.

But not if you're doing the wine pairings.;) At least I know I could not drive after that much wine.

That's what DH wants to do. We will have our car, but he hates to drive around the World.

Now, I have another question. I want to take pictures of every dish. I figure if we are dishing out that much money, I can at least have some pictures to remember it by, lol. If you took pictures of your food, did anyone say anything? I'm going to try not to use the flash. And will the servers take a photo of us with our camera?

Thanks. :)

We took a cab the last time we went - the MK was having MNSSHP and it would have taken too long to wait for a bus.

I took pictures of every course, but I did ask the waitress first if that would be alright because I didn't want to bother the other patrons. She told me that people do it all the time. And yes, they will take pictures of you together if you ask.

Have a great time - dinner at V&A is a lovely experience. :goodvibes

We took pictures of some of our courses Thursday, and noone said anything. As for the question about how to arrive...we weren't staying on property so we had to drive. Valet parking is complimentary for V&A's customers. However I do agree...if you plan on getting the wine pairing...DO NOT DRIVE.

You could also cab it. But personally I think it would be more fun to use WDW transportation. Cabs are just cabs to me...always feel a litle grungy. But taking a bus to the MK and then the launch or monorail to GF could be an adventure. And yes, everyone else will be in park clothes but it doesn't matter...you're at WDW. We've often taken the monorail to V&A and it's fun.

Of course a grungy cab would be a lot faster.:)

Everyone is different of course, but we always drive. And always do those wine pairings.
Never took a WDW bus to V&A, but did take the bus (from the Poly) a LONG time ago to the old Empress Room. We were all dressed up (me in a suit, Mrs U in a long dress) and the kids on the bus were giving us the two and three minute looks--giggling, laughing etc. Decidedly uncomfortable and we REALLY felt out of place among the swim suits, shorts, etc. It was as though we suddenly dropped in from another planet.

You could do it up and order a towncar to take you to & from the restaurant. I personally hate taking buses back from dinner, because, especially if you have a nice long meal at V&A's, the parks are often closed, and you may end up having to schlep out to DTD and from there to your resort. Who wants to do that, after a fine dining & wining experience? We always stay at the GF or Poly when we're eating at V&A's, just so that we can walk "home" after dinner.

Cheers!

We too plan our V&A dinners to coincide with Polynesian or GF stays. But I do think it's fun to go to dinner via monorail when we're at the Polynesian. The walk back is so lovely.

Car service is a great idea. A cab would be less expensive of course. I just meant for me a WDW bus is more fun than a cab....now if there were WDW cabs!

Interesting story about the bus to Empress Lily, Uncleromulus.

Of course back then V&A didn't exist, and the Empress Room did not have nearly the appeal that V&A does now. So seeing anyone in a suit and dress at the Poly (or on a WDW bus) was a most unusual sight.

No, you just didn't hear that much about the Empress Room. No DISboards back then. I read about it in the Official Guide and hoped to go when our children were older but alas, it was long gone by then. Was it good? We certainly enjoyed the other two restaurants on the Empress Lily.

It was pretty good, but not a "knock your socks off" kind of place. We ate there twice and it seemed a bit formal and stuffy--but of course this was 20+ years ago and we were a lot younger then, so maybe it wasn't as formal as we remember. Don't remember a whole lot about the menu except we both thought the food was "sauced" up. The decor was also a bit formal what with the gold wallpaper, the French Court look, etc.
We probably would have gone back again, but when V&A opened in 1988--well, the rest is history!!!
I do miss the Empress Lilly though----

From the Pop Century, you should most definitely take a cab. It will take you close to an hour to get there from the Pop using the buses and remember, it will be summertime so it will be HOT and HUMID. You don't want to arrive in need of a shower.
