How did we ever survive?

My kids know what they are missing. There is a halfway nice park just around the corner from me. They would love to be able to go play or see the friends that are in the neighborhood. Except for the drug dealers.
I live in a decent neighborhood too.

This thread brought to mind my daughter's horrified reaction when I recanted a story from my youth.

Little 11 year old me was riding my bike to the neighborhood shopping center(which was probably 2 miles away....but everybody did that stuff then) and I rode my bike into a moving car! Ended up breaking my collar bone.....Anyway, the folks whose car I ran into picked me up, loaded my bike in the trunk and delivered me home to my parents(very nice of them actually, considering I had rammed into their car).....DD's reaction: "But Mom, you got into a stranger's car".

Yes honey, I guess I did but things were different then. She doesn't get it
