How did we do? (house selling question)

I think as long as you clean the clutter out so people can see the "bones" of the house, you should be fine, binny. People are going to do different things than your tastes just like you did when you moved in. A friend of mine updated with all new hardwood and lo and behold when they sold, the people took all the hardwood out and out carpet back in. So, you just never know.

It always cracks me up on shows like HouseHounters when people say things like, "I don;t like th color of this room" etc. Uh...paint? I can see not wanting wallpaper but it is still easy to fix--not like needing to move a wall or something!

I'm wondering if you're overthinking the whole thing. Personally, I would declutter as much as possible and keep every room in the house picked up and clean.

I say this because our house has been on the market since May 1st and nothing we've done has made any difference as far as bringing in a buyer.:confused3

Our house is in excellent condition, on a beautifully landscaped lot with tons of curb appeal. It is barely five years old. The house has many amenities (farmer's porch, screened back porch, full walk-out basement, in-ground pool, second floor laundry room, huge bedrooms, whirlpool tub, among other things) and custom designs.

We've lowered the price $56,000. below the appraised price. It is now listed for less than most comparable houses in the area.

The house has been shown fully furnished, staged, and with only a few pieces of furniture. Our next step will be to empty the house of all furnishings and show it empty.

It's been a long, frustrating process.:sad2:

OP, I wish you all the best and I'm sending good thoughts your way. I hope you have a quick sale!! I hear things are picking up in the real estate area, so hopefully, something will come our way, too!!
Ugh...how frustrating. I hope some good luck comes your way soon!
No....much cleaner without that plant. I am sorry but that plant is pathetic. Please take it away. Or replant a healthier plant.
I like that plant and think it looks nice there. The mirror really makes a difference in the room too. :thumbsup2
At this point I guess it just is what is. I have cleared out, cleaned up, patched, painted the mickey room :(, and re staged to the best of my ability.
You done good. :) Seriously, you can't do everything. Two years ago I had to sell my mom's 10 room house that my parents had built in the 70's and barely touched, decor-wise, since then. I had to pick and choose what to do to prepare it for sale. I painted, tore up the orange (:scared1: ) carpeting (had hardwoods underneath), decluttered, cleaned, made repairs, and did a little updating of decor. There was PLENTY more that could've been done (think gold appliances, blue toilet tub and sink, etc), but you have to draw the line somewhere, due to time and money. I LOVE the show "Designed to Sell", but their $2000 budget doesn't include the free crew of experts!

Like I said...you've done a good job. And like someone else said, don't overthink it. As the process goes on (and hopefully it won't be long), you can make changes as you see fit. Good luck!

I just had this conversations with my sister (the good one ;)) recently. I love the show "Property Virgins" but those newbie househunters are notorious for nitpicking at every little detail.

Ok see, here is going to be my problem, if I have nothing between the windows the wallpaper will show and the previous owners had marked it up pretty good. I have no extra to fix it.

I cant match the curtains, they are custom made and because the windows area is so short I dont know what else to put there.

I would pull the curtain on the left window on the left side, then pull the curtain on the right window to the right.

My sis is an interior decorator and she has her windows like that - Left window pulled back on one side, right window pulled back on one side. We also have been looking at houses and all the model homes have the curtains pulled back like that - even windows further apart than yours. They also have them up on thick wooden rods and hanging close to the ceiling.
