I love to read the threads about people planning to surprise their kids with welcome baskets from the characters, invitations to PS's, etc. :wizard:

Please share your stories of how the surprises went. How did your kids react....and what, if anything, would you do differently?

This thread may just help me make the next 6 weeks to my trip! :rotfl:

In Oct 2003, DH & I took our youngest DD to Disney for MNSSHP. On our first night there, while we were at Ohanas, "Mickey & His Friends" delivered a basket to our room! Allison was so excited when she saw the basket - it had a stuffed Mickey in it, some snacks, autograph book, pen, stickers, and a disposable camera. (That's all I can remember right now!) Oh, it did have a big Mickey balloon attached, and the card was signed - "Can't wait to see you in the parks! Love, Mickey and Friends". Allison loved her basket (which was in the shape of Mickey ears!) and still plays with the basket! It was GREAT - I had ordered it through the Disney Florist.

In Dec 2004, again it was just DH, me and DD - and I had Tinkerbell leave her a gift every night after she was asleep. I had brought all the stuff - gift bags, paper, "pixie dust") and I put something out each night. Some of the things she got was - pins for trading, a stuffed dog Tramp, Princess disposable camera, and a Mickey nightgown. She loved checking for her surprise every morning!!

Just she and I are going for a "Mom & Me" trip in June - and I'm planning some things for her again!!! She loves getting the pins; and she is really good at trading!

Can't wait!!

Last Dec my sis and I enlisted the help of Feralpeg to bring some extra magic to our little DNeph on his first ever "aunties" Xmas trip - it was a tough year for him and he needed a lot of "spoiling"! When we checked into RPR there was a candy basket waiting for him with a stuffed Santa Grinch - he was thrilled!! A few days later we checked into BWV and our room wasn't ready yet - GS promised to send up the basket as soon as it was ready, but we beat them to the room ! As the porter was unloading our luggage into the room, the CM came to the door with the basket and announced "special delivery from Mickey!" I tried to tip him, but he refused, motioning for me to give it to the porter, which I did in addition to what I already had given him (the good CMs far outnumber the 'not so good' ones !!! :goodvibes ). That basket was loaded with everything he needed for WDW - trivia game, autograph book and pen, Epcot passport, stitch santa plush and pin - he was gushing "oh, wow! again !!!"

In Jan Feralpeg did a candy basket for DS's 16th b'day trip to HRH - just his favorite candy bars and some cute guitar pens and decorations waiting on the table for him when he walked into the room - sometimes it's hard to get a big smile from a 16 year old, but it certainly did the trick ! :smooth:

I couldn't have afforded to do this when my big kids were little, but putting little treats on their pillows or on the table for when they wake up is a great way to add a little magic ! :wizard:
